  1. Yes. As I mentioned in my first post, I have the two settings checked in the configuration file. I don't see the option you are refering to about.. "do you have your wcs=t/c plane in view manager set?" They only refer to the CURRENT situation. Not always. Unless I am misunderstanding it? Here is the options I get:
  2. I'm having trouble with keeping my T/Cplane to always be top when I'm in isometric view. I have the proper settings in my configuration checked to "Update Cplane and Tplane when changing Gview" and Reset Cplane to Top in Isometric Gview" This works great to follow my Gview as I manipulate the file in different views but It never goes back to Top Cplane when I go to the isometric view. It goes to isometric. I am so used to this working for so long that I don't usually remember to check the T/Cplane untill it is too late and I have already written a cutter path and it looks like spaghetti. Then I have to go in and reset the planes and then regen the file. It's starting to get annoying. Are these two switches broken in the configuration page? So I thought I would be smart and just set the T/Cplane to "Planes Always = WCS" This does not work either. It will not stay the same as WCS. Is this broken also? Thanks for any help. - Jason
  3. OK Here comes my lack of knowledge for Solidworks.... For my cad system, I would just save the whole file as an iges file. (not save some)and then import that iges file into my CAD system. All the parts would be on their respective levels and I can work with them on a "by level" bases to create my layouts and things. Since you said the items were all on there own levels in mastercam, can you not work with them that way?
  4. All new software needs to improve and Mastercam has improved many things over the years. It's just too bad they couldn't leave well enough alone with NC Utilities>Post Processor>Change. It worked so smoothly and flawlessly without having to study help files and PDF's with the time we don't have. I'm all for learning new things that are going to help my project along and save time and money for me and my customers, But from what I've read on this forum over time is that not too many are benefiting from this Machine/Control definitions manager thing. I may be wrong by now and many people have found the hidden benefits to utilizing this feature but boy would'nt it be nice to have this as an option for those who needed it and not even turned on for those who find it to be to cumbersome to be beneficial? I guess this could be a request for the next release but more people would have to agree with me to make them sit up and take notice. I know it is beneficial for those who really need it but then again so is 5 axis programming. Hitachi - I have been using Mastercam for 16 years and I would rather not have to know the difference between MD's MP3's. They mean nothing to me and my projects. (Granted If I were in charge of others who would potentially come to me with questions I would learn all I could on it but ONLY because of that. So I do understand your frustration.) This is just my 2 cents worth and don't take it for anything more than that. Have a great day.
  5. Shawn, I posted about this back in April. Yes it's a bit frustrating. I changed to always using stock set up in the file propertise and now it is my "normal" method after 10 years of doing it the other way. (use last settings) I don't have any problems ever calling up the wrong STL file though Wonder what's up there?
  6. Strabe, Thank you for the help. It worked wonderfully.
  7. Does anyone know if there is a way to keep the dialogue boxes from popping up directly in the middle of my screen every time I open them regardless of where I put them? It has been suggested that there is a setting in my video card but I can not find anything for that setting.
  8. OK, I've looked through my Nvidia settings but nothing jumps out at me as to pertaining to this issue. I have a Quadro FX 1600M. If anyone knows where I should be looking please join in and let me/us know. As for the Verify settings...... well, I guess I'll just have to get used to the new way of doing things. In reality, it isn't any different then the rest of Mastercam that someone like me, who used it for more than 10 years before version "X" came out and had to learn it all over again. Justin - Quote "I have found it is better to set up your stock from the operations manager than from inside verify." I guess I have never found it to be better for my particular appications. In fact, sometimes I like to just pick different stock corners to verify just a portion of what I am programming. So if I just want to verify a small portion of my operations with a small portion of my stock, it is always better and easier to just use the settings inside verify and have it "remember last stock size" until I choose to change it. With this feature broken, I will have no choice but to use the other method and save it in my stock set up and keep changing and resaving it every time I want it to be different. Thanks for the input guys. Keep up the good work.
  9. John - I have not upgraded my sig yet. Sorry for the confusion. This is happening to me with X2 MR2 SP1. It refuses to remember where I put the backplot window and the parameter window when I open parameters. In fact, every dialog box I can open will open directly in the center of my screen, every time, regardless of where I have just moved it to. Justin & Thad - I do realize that way of setting up stock. I have been using verify since it has become available (I think version 6 but not sure) and it has become such a process of how I do things that it is hard to change. But if this is the only way to work around what I am assuming is a bug then I will have to adjust. Does anyone know if this is being adressed as a bug and being fixed for X3? Thank you guys for your input. It's all helpful.
  10. I'll start with my verify question: When I set up boundaries in my verify options dialog box, I always use (and always have used) "pick stock corners" and have it set to "use last size". The problem is it never remembers the last size. Sometimes it comes up with some numbers that aren't the correct ones, sometimes it comes up with zeros and sometimes it comes up with simbols. (I don't remember if they were dollar signs or question marks)Is this a bug? Does anyone else get this? The next question I have is about the backplot dialog box: Is there any way to keep it from opening in the middle of my screen and making me move it every time I want to backplot something? I'm hoping there is a setting to lock it into a position somewhere else on my screen.
  11. Excellent. Thank you very much for the help guys.
  12. This seems like it should be so simple but I can't for the life of me figure out what I am doing wrong. When Mastercam opens and you open the machine group properties in the op-manager there is a tool library line. How do I set it to a specific library other than the default that keeps coming up so that it comes up that way every time? I have my System configuration settings just as I want them but it doesn't seem to matter. It appears that it won't read these settings if you have other settings in your machine or control definitions manager anyway. However, I can't find this particular setting in there. That being the case.... why even give us the option of setting the configurations if some other setting is going to override it anyway? Can't we just have one place to set things? This machine/control definition stuff might be nice for some people but it sure is a headache for me.
  13. You also need to make certain that your "across" geometry lies on a XZ or YZ plane EXACTLY. I recently spent WAY too much time trying to figure out why my simple 2D swept path kept erroring out. Until I realized my across geometry was at 7 degrees from my XZ plane. (The sad part is, I've known this for a long time.)
  14. Ever since I loaded X2 MR2, my setting inside of Verify for "Initial stock size source" no longer works? I have it set to "Use last size" but if I manipulate the operation manager by adding another operation or just moving operations around, The stock size gets all screwed up and sometimes will even revert to all zeros. I use this for electrode programming and use "pick stock corners" to define my stock size and it has always worked until now. I do have it set in the config properly as well but it still doesn't stay at the numbers it's supposed to. Anyone else run into this or know what I might be able to do to fix it? Thank you.
  15. Randy, Make sure you do a "combine views" function before attempting any 2D swept cutter path. "screen / next menu / comb views" (older versions) or "screen" across top and then "combine views" (4th from bottom of list on my system) X2 MR2
  16. I don't know what I did wrong the first time. I did try that and it didn't work....... but after your post I tried it again and it worked?!?! Thanks for your help Chuck. Have a great day.
  17. If my part is in an isometric view and I want to put the setup sheet text next to it but FACING the person sitting at the computer, How do you set it for this? In version 8 (I know I'm going back a ways here ) you would have to select "number" from the construction plane menu and then type 7 and it would work. I have looked quite a bit for this but there must be something I am missing?
  18. That did it Thank you very much guys. This forum is awsome. Jason
  19. Does anyone know what I am doing wrong here? I have 8 operations selected to post, all with the same NC path and name. But when I post them, It will select all but number 6 and 7. It then writes the posted file and then unselects the others and selects 6 and 7 and asks for an NC name for them. If I choose the same name it will ask to overwrite the existing file. Why wont it write the NC file with ALL the operations selected? It is no good to me otherwise. Thanks for any help. Jason Cad/Cam Advantage, Inc. Mastercam X2
