While i'm waiting on my tooling contacts to reply, i figured i would ask here also to see if anyone could point me in the right direction.
I was wondering if anyone could give me a suggestion on a tool to cut this groove. I've been skimming tool catalogs for about an hour now and haven't come up with anything. I would rather stay away from a custom made tool if possible. Somebody must make a tool for this application.
pic attached below.
Thanks in advance.
I was reading this the other day, and figured i would make myself a list of cnc's.

That's just what's in this building. Minus the edm and grind dept.'s.
We cut H13 all day long here. I personally use 650sfm and a feed of .016ipr, .16 d.o.c., with a 1/32 tnr insert for a starting point when roughing, depending on your machine rigidity and tooling, of course. Chip control on this material has never been an issue.
"and a simple groove tool 250 sfm at 2.0 ipr" ..... 2.0 ipr?
@robk
I am not sure if we will be making this a catalog item. It seems most people using cat 50 holders aren't using cutters that small. Or, just aren't ordering holders for them. But, we do keep a few on hand, just in case. I will make the suggestion to have it added to the catalog.
@Mark H
Hope you got all the information you needed. Glad i could help.

i just checked, and we have 4 on the shelf right now with a 3.00" gage length.
I'm not the salesman, so i can't talk prices. But i'm sure we could work a deal on quantities.
Shoot an email to [email protected]
He will have all of those answers for you.
