  1. Crazy^Millman, sure, carbon steel, sounds like a plan there, till it wears out in a month ;-) Unless you actually mean some sort of very strong Tool Steel...

But seriously, ceramic? I thought ceramic chips more so than carbide would?

Crazy is talking about spindle probe styli. Not tool probe. The reason you want to go with ceramic is so it will just snap off at over travel. Not bend and give you inaccurate results.

  2. Only thing is if Mastercam goes to a node lock process then all of that will be null and void.

Yep, we have other software that's node lock but it has it's own license manager so we can do pretty much the same thing. I don't think it would be very wise for CNC to go this direction since so many people like to take their HASPS home or go to a bunch of different un-networked computers.

  3. Sounds like someone got a little to much to drink in your quality department.

I was thinking the same thing. My attitude when it come to QMS is what kind of value does a process add to a system. I see a lot of companies worried about fluff and at the same time there are huge holes in the system. I always hear stuff like "ISO/AS says that we have to do this or that". People would be surprised by how much flexibility some of these systems have and that in reality it was their own people/ consultant that put all the BS in place.

  4. Here's something I read into recently that might be a little further along and more of a real solution to some.

    Vector programming.

Yes. TCP is a much better (actually realistic) solution to being able to transfer parts between multi axis machines.
