Jay From CAD-CAM (my MasterCam VAR) and myself could use some assistance in finding where we can obtain a WORKING post for my dmu50V with the heideihan mill plus control.
software version is 330 and it DOES NOT utilize G7
the Drill cycles must work properly
We have been unable to find a working post (or get one tweaked for this machine for 6 months, so now I am turning to the guru,s on this forum for some additional guidance.
If you Have this Machine and know whos post puts out good code Please let Jay or myself know
Thanks

Gramberg Machine
How old is your machine ?
those faults seem to pop up on our Fadals as the carbon from the servo motor brushes builds up in the mtr/encoder
our tech removes the brushes and uses a vacume to suck out the dust/clean the encoder and were good to go

We have turned quite a bit. we had our best luck with with very sharp inserts .002 or less nose radius. it is very abrasive so inset edges didnt last very long. circle and sandvik made the inserts

Z-carbs are great but. Hanita varimills seem to outperform them for us in stainless. and if I recall they even cost less. get the stubbies and hold them in the shortest holder posible and floood them with coolant they hate recutting chips

Is there a way (other than a separate operation) to change the stepover distance and feedrate for the finish pass ,bottom, of a pocket ? I would like to use a 70% step at a feedrate of 120 ipm to rough out the pocket and on the finish skim have it changed to 45% and 160 ipm.
I'm hoping there is one of those little check boxes that I am missing or don't know about.
I learn something new here every day
thanks

we have a Harding Cobra 42. they have a fanuc 21t controls on them which is a very basic no frills striped down control. Ours is configured the same as most all cnc lathes in that the cutting edge of the tool faces down, not up as you discribe. which direction does your spindle turn with a m3 comand ? we have never had any problems with lifting of the liniar guides as Chris says but we dont push ours very hard.

ai feel for you.
Just had the exact same thing done to me by my lead man of 10 years. New machine with less than 100 hours on it, ran a program off a smaller machine didnt check clearances of the turret smashed the turret straight into the chuck full rapid.
I looking at the bright side that it was on my Hass and not any of the Harding or Mori seiki lathes that we have
oh , did I mention he came in the next day and quit " wants to look for a position at a big company where he wouldnt have the responsibility of running the owners machines"

our CMM software (Quadra-Check 5000 )won't create a surface file for reverse engineering that can be imported to Mastercam,it can create a point cloud of points across the surface in a 3d iges file. What software, c-hook or methoud does anyone use to create a surface from the all the points so you can have a surface in Mastercam to work with ?
thanks for any advice
