  1. Thanks Calnet for pointing out this issue and sending in a sample file for us to verify. I have recorded it as a bug and it is being looked at now. Please note we have included “new cutter comp” as a prototype that can be turned on and off in the applet in control settings. It is defaulted to off, or in other words it is the same as it has always been unless you turn the option on in the applet. A prototype is meant to be used with caution. Its intent is to allow users the ability to test new functionality with the ability to revert back if issues are found. We have optimized many scenarios and fixed many others. “New cutter comp in Lathe” addresses many areas that need improving that have been reported over the years. However there is always some inherent risk when redoing sections of code. “New cutter comp” has been included as an option since the beta version of X4MU1. So beta testing has been done. With the help of folks like you using it in your parts we can improve it even more. We are determined continue to improve cutter comp in lathe. We are anxious to get feedback like Calnet was kind enough to provide. If issues are found please send a sample file with as much detail as possible to [email protected].
  2. We are going thru the information you guys chipped in. Taking all suggestions under consideration and looking at which ones we can implement sooner than later. Especially the ones that come up over and over.........and over......and over I have alot of work to do. I am keenly aware lathe has not had much for improvements in some time. Some of the changes are easier to make than others so some will be further down the line. I am sure I will not be able to deliver changes as fast as they should be. I can only try and express that I recognize many areas for improvement and that I plan on working hard to improve the software. Now here's the good news and the bad news all in one. Based on where we are today, aside from some machine def updates, the changes I will start to implement will be in X3 MR1. I am your advocate here at CNC (no this is not the bad news ). I am working hard not only to make some changes in MR1 but putting a plan together for the long haul. I will try and communicate what the changes are once we settle on them. In regards to the VTL files I put on the ftp site: To date I have only heard back from one person....Thanks James C
  3. Thank you for all the feed back. I put some files for VTL up on the FTP site in the VTL directory, for you guys to check out . I would really appreciate your comments on if they are helpful. They include some redone machine def's. I plan on including them in X3. I appreciate all you lathe users out there. I know lathe needs some TLC. You have already been patient. I am not a miracle worker so I need more time. As I mentioned I am here for the long haul. I condensed the suggestions Here : Canned cycles-2 Cutter comp issues-1 Round boring bars-1 Lock on feeds and speeds-2 VTL-3 “Face towards part”-3 Tool libraries-2… Wider variety of tools inc insert drills, knurling, undercutting- Part transfer-1 Canned threading with lat flank and mod alt flank-1 35 deg cutter crash alarm-3 Dirty files marked with no real changes-1 Groove turn tools-3 Save tools to new library-1 First cut dia for facegrooving tools-1 Alt depth on rgh turn-1 Scan custom tools-1 Insert style drill/boring tool-1 Bill
  4. I appreciate all the response I have gotten so far. I am here for the long hall. Moving forward I would appreciate hearing your top areas of pain. Many of you have already started helping me out. I will compile this information and use it as we determine what areas of Mastercam lathe to improve first. Have a nice weekend, Bill
  5. Don S. Nice to meet you. I am well aware we have alot of work to do in lathe. I will do what I can as we move forward to fix whats broken and improve what we have. I'm very interested in the problems people are dealing with in the lathe product.
  6. Dragster, I'm sorry to hear about your crash. I tried a quick simulation of your scenario and the numbers transposed fine. We really need you to do a zip to go file so we have all of the parameters and files you are using. Although this site is randomly monitored by CNC Software employees we do not own this site. So for us to properly address a problem of this magnitude we need you to send it to us at [email protected]. Bill
