  1. The program has been running all afternoon, no errors smile.gif . Thanks for all your help jagg2499, mrk1500, Jim at Gentex, surface and neil qwerty.

    You Guys are great

  2. Before I started here they were using something different than Cimco edit, not sure what. When I started Cimco was loaded and I was told that's what were using. Ever since I been here it's been a problem (about 5 years). Everything but the machine itself has been changed, new cables, new pc, new software.

I'm happy to say that with all the suggestions you guys have given me, The test program has been running fine (knock on wood).

  3. The cables are not shielded, Just run along the wall, no fluorescent lights around that area. The first VMC is has about 15 feet of cable, and the problem VMC about 30 feet. We had in-house here a few years back, they changed the cables and still the same.

  4. mrk1500 - The dynapath doesn't read g-code, and I don't see anything in the program that would help.

jagg2499 - I didn't change the buffer because it was already off, (should it be?)

Here is an example of what the code looks like:

    TEST)$

    N1.00(T) PRG NAME - TEST$$

    N1.02(T) T06 DIA. - .3750 FINISH....$$

Thanks guys, your suggestions are really great.

  5. I been having this problem for sometime now and can't get a handle on it, any suggestions would be great.

When I run a long 3D program to our VMC (Tree 1050) machine, I get a buffer error about one hour into the program, sometimes sooner. The error message on the machine tells me it's a buffer error, and to lower the baud rate. I did that and the machine runs out of program.

We are using Cimco 5 edit, and the controls on the machine are Dynapath, We tried changing the cables, played with different baud rates and even

changing the filter ratio in MC, (which the machine did not accept.

    any thoughts would be great.

  6. JParis; a bungie a cord as a safety line is a great idea, I'll just make sure it's to long!!!

Hardmill, I anchored the platform so it's secure, This operator already had 7 months off with Workers Comp because he fell over his tool box. Can you believe that s*#t. He fell over a toolbox which is taller than him!

This Fadal machine is only 2 years old, when did they add this function to the handle?

  7. I am talking about the handle with the cable attached to it. I haven't contacted the dealer yet because I want to be sure you can have that set up first. thanks for your help.

JParis, we made him a 9" high platform. Now he complains that he might fall off!!!

  8. Hello All,

I was wondering if anybody would know if there was a way to set up the handle of our fadal VMC to have the function of tool release? We have a short operator who complains he can't reach the control panel and reach the spindle at the same time. The handle has a button on it labeled F1 function, could that be programed as tool release? The controls are GE Fanuc Series 18i-MB5.

thanks any suggestions would be great.

    Dan

  9. We have a problem close to yours, Management wants us to run at what a seller tells them the tool can run at. Not understanding that it won't last as long and some if the smaller, older VMC's can't handle it.

So the only solution I found was to program the speed and feed to the sellers numbers, Call over management and let them watch the tool be dissolved. Now they don't question the operators twinking or expect the job to be done in have the time because that's what the guy selling the tool told them.

Besides proving them wrong feels great!!!

  10. Sorry to bring this back up, but I finally have time to try and fix it. Our company logo still doesn't appear. I replaced the logo.gif in the root dir, and if I use execl for the set-up sheet the logo appears, I would perfer to use the html format, but I don't get a logo. Can anyone tell me what's wrong, or recommend a size I should change the logo too?

  11. Hey guys, an operator got a message while running the VMC: I don't have a copy of the manual (the I-T guy can't find it), and the machine won't reset. The machine is a fadal with GE Fanuc series 18i-MBS, the error reads

9031 spn 1: motor lock or V-SIG lOS

    can anybody help,

    Thanks in advance,

    Dan

  12. Experience, experience, experience, don't be afraid to try new things, move around, or for lack of a better term, "show off your skills". If you want to be a programmer, show them you can do it. Prove that your an investment for the company to move forward. Keep teaching yourself new things, and ways to do things, In short, always learn.

    best of luck
