  1. there isn't enough room to remove the covers...
  2. Holding down JOG didn't work and still looking for the brown fuse in the back. thanks Thad I called Fadal since the machine is still under warranty (only 2 months old), and they said quote: Pull the cover off over the drive and you’ll find the motor, belt and pulleys that drive an arm and cam. Once you get it started moving, you can push the umbrella back by hand. Not very exotic, but less trouble than getting into the control keep relays. not the answer I was looking for...
  3. quote: If the tool changer is still "swung out" under the spindle, sometimes you can just give the umbrella a push and it will go back to where it belongs. no luck, she won't move.
  4. Need help resetting the machine. the tool changer got stuck in the middle of a tool change and i need to reset the carousel back and unload the tool. the machine is a fadal 4020 with fanuc oi-mc controls
  5. Thanks guys, great stuff!! can I get a link to 3R fixtures?
  6. I have been assigned the task to monitor our wire edm department, and make it more run efficient. I have little knowledge about wire edm and am looking for some insight from you wire guys. My background is milling and I have that department running smooth and efficient. We currently have 3 Sodick AQ537L wire edm centers. My question’s are: 1: where would I see the feed rates programmed and running on the machines? 2: what would be a good way to clock work? (they are using the counter, but that means nothing to me) 3: what could I use to increase productivity when setup parts? Fixtures, holding plates?
  7. need help!!!! simple 2d pocketing. i'm chaining a closed pocket and keep getting an error message. "Encountered an improper argument" can anybody explain what this is
  8. austing, I have upgraded to a nividia video card, still have issues
  9. I thought it was because color was spelt wrong. color = colour Dan
  10. Regenerate Display List works, I've been having problems with all the things you mentioned gcode. thanks, just wondering why I have this extra function to do now.
  11. OK gentlemen, let's see if you can help out a fellow Mastercammer. All I'm trying to do is change the color's of some entities... I first right click on system colors (bottom of my screen, then I highlight the entities to change, click on the green circle(end selection) and nothing...no colors dialog box?. This doesn't happen all the time but enough times that it's starting to annoy me. Anyone else experiencing this? Dan
  12. Is there a service patch for X4 MU2? Our It guy said he recieved an email to download it. Dan
  13. gcode, the designer wiped out all the orginal files (dumb a$$). I have no holes, points anything to use. I thought about a boundary box, but the .stl file has the surfaces extend over the egdes and i don't know how much they were extended and if they were extended equally.
  14. I really should have stayed home today, I’m machining a form made of hardened A2 which cracked in the press and was welded back together. I only have to blend the welded area back to the original surfaces (not complex, we do it a lot here.) This is where my problem lies; the surface for this form is a .stl file which was made to fit another block of A2. The .stl file was put into position in another program (polyworks I believe), then exported as a .stl for me to machine. I machined that block, since then it has gone for heat treat and polishing. So this block is only a temp. My problem is how do I locate this block with the .stl file? Center of block does match with the .stl file, nor do I have data were the edges are in the file. Any suggestions how I could pick this up? Dan Dazed and Confused
  15. I must trust it, for I do it everyday. some parts are to large and complex to program all at once leaving the machine idle. try explaining to the boss that he has a machine idle because I'm still programming the part and not sure if my toolpaths are good. Won't go over well here. idle time is lost time
  16. sounds good Ron, for now I'm cutting so the boss is happy. Happy holidays
  17. I installed verisurf again, removed again and all is good. I guess the first unistall missed some things. I got my option button back and it seems to be working now.
  18. alright I just installed MU2 (restarted)and still can't access the option button. any other options?
  19. dolphin1, I emptyed the temp files and rebooted, still nothing, thanks for the suggestion. Any other suggestions?
  20. I'm trying to import .STL files into MasterCam. This morning I was able to import files and using the option button change from lines to mesh. After playing around alittle with the file and not being able to do much with it, I downloaded the Verisurf add-on. This disabled the option button. I since removed Verisurf and still the option button is disabled for .STL files. how do I get this button to work again? I using MasterCam X4 MU1, please help i'm lost. Dan
  21. Ron, I need more info about Verisurf, we are having some problems with .STL files and I'm looking for a solution ASAP. If you could send me some info about verisurf, it would be great. My email is [email protected]
  22. can't you open the .stl file in mastercam, then change it to surfaces, and then program? I'm asking because we just bought a probe thing-e attached to some arm thing-e running on some program thing-e. All I was told was I would be receiving .stl files and would be able to machine surfaces right from them. haven't tryed yet, but i'm starting to get worried.
  23. if that's the case, what benefit would an .stl file be for MasterCam
