  1. Yes I understand I need training on the basics, hence my posts asking for help in which yours doesn't seem to help much except for stating the obvious! I've used other Cad systems before that are much more user friendly, MC IS NOT one of those systems but I have to learn it if I want to continue to eat. I have got a grasp on the levels now so the road to progression has begun. Next time try being more helpful then stating the obvious, that's more annoying then not knowing what I'm doing. Being a moderator I figured you would know this.

I don't mean any disrespect because I'm not that guy, but this is a forum for directly helping people who use MasterCam and if I'm wrong please tell me. You are directly representing MC and if you don't believe me the title of the website is "eMASTERCAM.COM" so when I come here after my employer has spent more than $for the software I would hope that I could get a little help, is that too much to ask? I learned a lot from the GibbsCam forum and I am forever grateful for that, I would think that the direct competitor would do the same but I guess I'm wrong. I am just trying to do my job well so I spend my weekends on my own time trying to better myself for my employer. How dare I! I'll let our local reseller know that their public forum for helping their customers is useless because their moderators direct them to an outside source for training. Thanks for all your help......

Coming from gibbs we could really relate on the differences.

    :p

  2. you can try this method but need Acrobat3D

    My link

Capture a 3D PDF file from your CAD application

    From the experts at Adobe

Adobe® Acrobat® 3D allows engineering and technical professionals to publish and share 3D design information from major CAD applications with virtually any computer user. This tutorial demonstrates the method of capturing 3D data directly from within your CAD application using the Print Screen key, and Acrobat 3D.

Link your CAD application to Acrobat 3D

Before you can capture 3D data directly into Acrobat3D from your CAD application, you need to complete a one-time setup that links the two applications.

1 Start the CAD application, and then start Acrobat3D.

2 Click Create PDF on the toolbar in Acrobat 3D, and choose From 3D Capture.

Choose Create PDF > From 3D Capture to link the CAD application to Acrobat 3D.

3 Click OK in the dialog box that appears.

    4 Restart both applications.

Capture data from the CAD application

Acrobat 3D can convert CAD files that are already saved, but pressing the Print Screen button within the CAD application allows you to directly embed 3D designs into Adobe PDF files without interrupting your workflow.

    1 Start Acrobat 3D.

2 Load any 3D assembly or part file into the CAD application, and remove any elements you don’t want to capture.

3 Press the Print Screen button.

4 In Acrobat 3D, view the 3D design data, which is inserted into a new PDF document.

5 Save the file to your desktop as Capture1.pdf.

    edit: I am late :D

  3. Let say there are several different size arcs at "Z" zero plane, or at least all on one plane. I want a .015" chamfer on each size. I want to just plunge a 45° tool. Is there a way to select all holes and use some type off inceremental function to create the chamfers?Regards.

No there is currently no way to pick all the arcs and chamfer them in one operation. Feature Based Machining would be required to accomplish this. You'll have to do as Mic6 says and create individual ops for each arc.

IF the software could "look"/analyze a solid model or wireframe model and create the appropriate operation/pick the tool/and post the program then a 6 yr old could do it and you would be out of a job. :p:D

  4. Good Idea Murlin :)

Another thought is to do a save some and save off the solid you created as a separate file to toolpath with.

I would add as much RAM to that system build as you can, 2 GB is awful low nowadays.

  5. They are moving at final machining and we need all the bonus we can get before sending data.

Are they moving or is the machine not holding position ? Might want to check that the machine isn't the culprit...

I have seen patterns of features out because of the machine before, and a round part with a circular pattern set of features would allow for the worst case to show the machines backlash/slop in both X and Y....

  6. Also need to keep track of sequential numbers each time the pallet goes in...

This is the part I haven't seen whipped yet...

had the same issue on a cell...my guess would be that the cell controller will have to handle/control the macro for serial # and the problem is which machine the pallet will be running that adds more complexity to having the cell controller hand off to which machine...and then the machine telling the cell controller where it leaves off each time....

    Good Luck

  7. I prefer zip-ties for safety switches and lockouts. When the safety guy comes around, you can quickly snip 'em and be "legal".

The newer interlocks have to be taken apart or unbolted from the door itself.

I have seen a simulated interlock component fabricated and then used to put in the interlock device so the machine thinks the door is closed.

  8. For HMC work, the verify stock is actually the tombstone, all of the fixtures, and all of the parts, so the verified model is useless for the following operations.

Not always useless unless the part and fixture for follow on ops is a different tombstone.

Sometimes tho it's easier with multiple files like this job.
