Buy a raid card. BIOS level raid is software controlled so its honestly a placebo. You will not get that mush speed improvement from it. It's better for raid 1 setups.

    Buy raid card

    Backup all data

    Install it/hook up drives

    Setup raid 0

    format

    reinstall everything

Just throwing this out there - would anyone see value in having a live chat room / area next to the forums for quicker answers? We weren't necessarily thinking of doing that but thought I'd put it out there as it is an option.

If you want that, I'll just make an irc channel for it. Live chat in a browser is horrible, uses waaaaay too many resources and it also depends on the browser the end user has.

Usenet sucks for everything other than pirating movies/music.

phpBB is a forum base for script kiddies who want to be 1337 in owning their own forum.

Why don't you just modify what you have?

Have to get back to you on that. Even so, while these numbers would provide a good baseline, we'll be potentially requiring much more bandwidth for the new site.

I doubt it. Even if you add another board or two traffic isnt gonna be increased that much. Unless you want to put in a HTML5 avatar 3d playground (lol I didnt say flash cuz I'm a fanboi tongue.gif ). If it does jump up to using say, 20% more, that's not bad. I've always pushed the borderline on connection capability's. You get more than you need, take a baseline average load then scale back with 40% extra for denial of service attacks/misc crap people do (doubt this site will be attacked).

    Bandwidth permitting!

I've got page loads down to .4 secs with that code on a server with a P4 and a crap connection under full user load headscratch.gif

Don't tell me you are using a limited bandwidth provider...

Yea, they're a hipster product as of now. Back in the dawn of personal computers, apple made the best keyboards. Cherry blue switches and a steel click plate. A true dream to type on. But now a days, it's cheaper to make **** keyboards. They have some mechanical keyboards at frys but I don't know if you can try them.

If you ever get the chance to type on one, I guarantee you that you will buy it after playing with it.

  6. When you type all day, you will know the difference. Standard cap and rubber dome key buttons wear out over time because you bottom out the keys when typing. With the filco, the keys will "click" before you bottom them out, thus over time training you how to type without mashing. Basic cap/dome only have a cycle life of 10000 key presses while cherry switches have a life of 250000 key strokes. You get improved typing times and you have less finger fatigue. Plus it's the best feeling keyboard ever. I swear, I could prolly kill a guy with this thing. I got mine when they were still made of aluminum biggrin.gif

  7. Also, Filco tactile click NKRO mechanical keyboard. It's like typing on a silk pillow wrapped in the purest of gold with a perfect quick rebound of a school girl.

Best keyboard ever. It also goes CLACKITY CLACKITY CLACKITY CLACKITY cuz of the switches biggrin.gif

  8. I got mine for 115 a couple months ago. I was reluctant to get it at first but holy s#!t! Combine the space pilot with mighty mouse and my filco tactile click NKRO mechanical keyboard = <3

Basically my processor went from 2,7 GHz to 4,2 GHz.

BE CAREFUL OF THOSE SETTINGS!!!!! eek.gif

If you have a stock cooler you WILL KILL YOUR PROCESSOR!

I have OC'd all my comps and that is just a dangerous frequence setting. Watch your temps.
