  1. William, Highfeed will do exactly what you want and it's been in our software since V7. Define your machine dynamics in the general machining parameters including Max. feedrate change per block, Minumum cornering feedrate, and angular direction change. Select desired toolpath(s) to modify corner feedrates and run Highfeed Finish Only. You can edit the local copy of your machine definition to quickly change the highfeed values if different parameters for other toolpaths apply. Highfeed can also be used in your roughing operations. As you, or someone else mentioned, a program is generated for the worse case scenario. Full width and depth of the tool. This condition occurs a small percentage of the time in the program but must be accounted for. Whenever these conditions improve, for instance, stepping over 45%, the feedrates can increase. Highfeed will adjust the feedrates based on the volume of material being removed, changes in direction as well as take into account machine dynamics to prevent overtravel. You can contact you local Mastercam dealer or me if you have any questions or problems. Mike Rosa CNC Software [email protected]
  2. Customer question: MCAM9.1SP2MR0304 Dell inspiron 8600 / XP Pro SP2 1GB ram: Mastercam runs well with acceleration down. With acceleration up, rubberband window jumpy, flashing cursor jumpy. Downloaded latest ATI driver. Write combining has been turned off. Any suggestions appreciated. Mike
  3. I was using NT4.0 and it's screen saver until Win2000 and did not expierience this problem. There have been instances where part of the geometry file is "missing" when overlapping windows. Screen/ Next menu/ Regenerate would take care of it. I suggest before you shut down Mastercam, verify the geometry exists with a Screen/ Statistics. If all the enities are there, select Screen/ Next menu/ Regenerate. Mike Rosa ------------------ Mike Rosa CNC Software, inc. [email protected]
  4. Tapered tools in Verify use the specified .MC8 file in the tool's Define Tool/ Parameters/ Tool file name. In this case the default Tapermil.mc8 is drawn with a 10 degree taper. Verify will show a 10 degree tapered tool regardless of what was entered as a taper angle. To show the proper tool, create the profile of the desired taper tool and save as a .MC8 file (preferably in the Tools subdirectory). Create a new tool and specify this file as the Tool file name. This has been enhanced for V8.1. You will see the tools profile dynamically adjust to the values entered. Backplot and Verify will display the correct tool shape. 5. Did you try defining the wheel as a bullnose cutter with a 4 inch diameter and .125 corner radius? The tool will be offset the radius of the cutter and comped on both sides of the disk. I will e-mail you a file which demonstrates this. Mike Rosa ------------------ Mike Rosa CNC Software, inc. [email protected] [This message has been edited by mike rosa (edited 09-21-2000).]
  6. Not in V7. V8.1 will backplot and verify any of the (19) tool types available in the tool library. We are still making a decision on how to backplot and verify undefined tools that use a geometry file to define the shape. ------------------ Mike Rosa CNC Software, inc. [email protected]
  7. Does this happen to all toolpaths or just a specific one? If just this one toolpath, it could be a problem within the toolpath(s) itself. I have seen this happen when verifying multiple toolpaths and somewhere in the middle is a toolpath with an undefined tool or 0.0K toolpath. If verifying several toolpaths and this is happening, try verifying smaller groups until you narrow down to the offending toolpath. If this doesn't help, please send the file for review. 8. I haven't been able to duplicate this bug. I created a pocket toolpath and successfully rough and finish projected it, from T/C plane 4. If possible, please send me a file or more details which demonstrates this problem for review. Mike Rosa CNC Software, inc. [email protected]
  9. V8 MPFAN outputs 4 axis code. Are you doing 4 axis indexing (axial4ax), simultaneous 4 axis, or axis substitution? I will e-mail you examples of each. You can post and review the output. Mike Rosa CNC Software, inc [email protected]
  10. I am not sure what you mean by "unexpected parts and ways in the NCI file which you can see also during the simulation". Please send me a file which demonstrates this for review. ------------------ Mike Rosa CNC Software, inc.
