The machine is an olde AWEA with a fanuc 18-m. The programmed feed rate is around 100 ipm with a .750 ball em. The step over is .010, total tolerance is set to .001 and the sliders were set to best finish with smoothing turned on and shift points randomly. With G8 P1 turned on slows to a crawl of 15 to 45 IPM. I had the programmer set the slider to shortest code and the file size was cut to 1/8 of the original size. This did run a little faster from 30 ipm to 80 ipm average. Any suggestions on filter and smoothing?
  2. We have an old lathe post for our haas sl-20. We only use the lathe a few times a month. Everyone around here says the post is good, but recently when posting c axis contour tool paths we get a weird shape. Below is who we got the post from about 6 years ago when using v9. The work around is posting the c-axis contour path with a mp master and its all good. I would really like to just modify the mp master to work with the hass but it’s a little above my experience. My question after looking at the code below, can you spot something that might be easy to fix in the post or mmd? MASTERCAM MP POST PROCESSOR - MLC CAD Systems # www.mlc-cad.com fyi running mc x4 mu3 I have posted the haas first that is bad the 2nd prog is the mp master and it is good. also noted is the code from the mp is much longer for some reason, but it works great. Thanks, Damian code: % O01141 (7P114-1.OP1-HAAS) (DATE - 02-03-10-09:07) (START TOOL LIST) ( T7 1/2 FLAT ENDMILL MILLING .5 DIA) (END TOOL LIST) N7(T7) ( 1/2 FLAT ENDMILL) G0 G18 G20 G40 G64 G80 T0707 M8 M154 (C AXIS ENGAGE) G00 G54 X4.3461 Z.25 C-166.7 G98 M133 P3000 Z.1 G01 Z0. Trevor, thanks for all the good info. if i cant figure it out by this afternoon, i will copy and past all of your code inside my post. as always, thanks for the help,
  5. what wrong with this code? code: pbld, n$, "G187", [if mr2$, "P", no_spc$, *mr2$], e$ pbld, n$, "G187", [if mr3$, "E", no_spc$, *mr3$], e$ output looks like this code: G187 P1 G187 Emr3$ .025 x4 mr2 with mpmaster Thanks, Damian
  6. open the tool path. click finish flowline options. click gap settings, set distance to 1.0. click on optimize cut order and regen.
  7. x4 mu1 after converting a lathe post to use in x4 i get an error msg when posting. i looked at the error log and it says missing closing bracket on line 1757 which is the pl_retract. i have looked at at for a while and played with it. also contacted my dearler who said it was ok. i dont like having it error when posting, so if you spot anything that may look funny please let me know. Thanks, Damian code: #eap 1/17/03 # When canned grooving, set cc_1013 to zero so that the cutter comp # value called out on the NCI 1013 line will be ignored. cc_1013 # should be restored to it's previous value in 'prcc_call_end'. if tool_op$ = 208 | tool_op$ = 62, #eap 1/17/03 [ #eap 1/17/03 sav_cc_1013 = cc_1013$ #eap 1/17/03 cc_1013$ = zero #eap 1/17/03 ] #eap 1/17/03 pl_retract #Retract tool based on next tool gcode, lathe (see ptoolend) ****error on this line***** cc_pos$ = zero #if home_type = ONE, [ pmap_home #Get home position, xabs ps_inc_calc #Set inc. pbld, n$, psccomp, e$ coolant$ = zero if cool_off = 1, pbld, n$, pscool, e$ #"M09", e$ #RUBEN ADD pcan1, pbld, n$, *sgcode, pfxout, pfyout, pfzout, e$ *toolno, e$ pbld, n$, pnullstop, strcantext, e$ ] if catcher_flag = 1, [ "M37 (PARTS CATCHER OFF)", e$ catcher_flag = 0 ] else, [ pbld, n$, `sgcode, psccomp, e$ # if (cuttype = 1) & (speedrpm <> 0) & (css_actv$ = 1), n$, "G97", *speedrpm, e$ #RUBEN WAS if (cuttype = 1) & (speedrpm <> 0) & (css_actv$ = 1), n$, "G97", "S200",e$ if mi8$ = 1, pcan1, pbld, n$, *sg28ref, "U0.", e$ #n$, *sgcode, "G129", "X0", "Z0", protretinc, "T0", strcantext, e$ if catcher_flag = 1, [ "M37 (PARTS CATCHER OFF)", e$ catcher_flag = 0 ]
  8. The set up is on a 4th axis. The part is a dished rectangle shape. The tool path cuts a 5.0 deg angle around the part on a vacuum fixture. The end mill is moving in x,y,z and the A is rotating around to match the angled edges on the front and back. I probably didn’t explain it very well. Im sure a picture is worth 1000 words. We do several versions of this part and have never had an issue like this before. Anyway, thanks again for trying to help.
  9. Easy enough to find, not sure what to change.
  10. That makes sense. The post is just a mpmaster. Any suggestions on where to find the wind up information inside the post? Thanks for the help
  11. Kind of weird, but any idea what might cause the tool path to want to rotate to this number after the cut is complete. All other tools ran fine. 12. Justin, From the menu bar select Operation Graphics display window Transform Translate Click on where you want to move the move the part from and to (just like translate from point to point in MC) We use PC Dmis for all of out 5 axis inspection while on our cnc. Im pretty sure it’s the same If used on a cmm. Damian
  13. To everyone that added info on this post. It works perfect and I learned a lot. Thanks, Damian
  14. i added Guru's info and it had an error. im sure im just doing somthing wrong. so i started over and just used Guru's pccdia block and everything post ok, just missing the # on every d call. i tried adding the line of code for paul and it erored out again. i think im pretty close if i can get pauls fmt to work. i am always impressed at the amount of knowlage on this board and the many different ways to do things. fmt "D#" 4 tloffno$ #Diameter offset number
  15. I will try the above. just one question, where do i put the Declaration at? I have never seen this one before. Thanks code: Declaration:strtlmd "D"Concatenate D + # and reassign addr to tloffno$:

  17. Hey Tim, We program with resident tool's 1-83. the rest are open for special tools. the d#3026 and h#3026 just helps the operator from making any mistake by editing the wrong info. all h and t #'s come from the actual tool in the spindal. we also use it in a g10 call before and after each tool to adjust the comp for specific parts instead of for all job that might be running. ( G90G10L12P#3026R0 ) i did find one thing out, if i imput the tool info like this it will work. t1 h3026 d3026 t2 h3026 d3026 ect prev was t1 h1 d1 t2 h2 d2 and i never had a problem. seems weird for it to act up all of a sudden. thanks again for your help, Damian
  18. I added the above. it fixed the tool that was giving me problems, but now it shows up on the prev tool?
  19. sorry about that. here is the rest of the code. i tried # on the line mentioned and it still output wrong. I also failed to mention that if i post this toolpath only the code is good when i post the whole prog i get the D on every line of one tool only. pccdia #Cutter Compensation #if prv_cc_pos$ <> cc_pos$ & cc_pos$, prv_tloffno$ = c9k sccomp if prv_tloffno$ > 1, [ if prv_tloffno$ <> tloffno$, "D", no_spc$, 35, no_spc$, "3026" ] if cc_pos$, !tloffno$
  20. pccdia #Cutter Compensation if prv_cc_pos$ <> cc_pos$ & cc_pos$, prv_tloffno$ = c9k sccomp if prv_tloffno$ > 1,
  21. After reading all the info in this post, I got my mpmaster to spit out D#3026 and h#3026 just fine. Last night I was posting a 5axis curve toolpath with comp off and this is what I get. Anyone know what might be causing it? Thanks, Damian (.03 CORNER RAD) (WCS NAME - TOP) (TOOLPLANE NAME - OP3 HORIZ) (CPLANE NAME - OP3 HORIZ) (TOOLPATH GROUP - TOOLPATH GROUP-1) (COMPENSATION TYPE - WEAR COMP) T4 M06 ( .031"C/R, 1/8" SHK 2F CARBIDE CORNER-ROUNDING TOOL .036"LOC,. 75" PROJ.) 22. We just got a few of the Chick Multi lock 1550 cluster towers for our horizontal. I haven’t had any luck finding a solid model of them anywhere to use for programming. If anyone knows where to get one or has already drawn one up please let me know. It would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Damian
