  1. Thanks for the advice guys! It works now.
  2. I am trying to create a file for student use. I can save the stock settings and the machine type for the file, but is there a way to save the tool I assigned to the toolpath while deleting the geometery? Basically, I want to keep everything in the file except the entities. Students will use the file to create letters for the stock and create a contour toolpath to machine a nametag using a Techno DaVinci Stepper 3 axis mill, but the focus of the activity is not learning about tools and toolpaths, the focus of the activity is to familiarize the students with using the machine, so I am trying to avoid having the students select and define the tool needed for the operation.
  3. Success, I got it figured out. Thanks for all the help. Once I changed from 3D to 2D construction, and fixed my Z depth, everything worked.
  4. I have the tutorial ready to email, if anyone wants to see it, since the FTP site is still down (or at least, doesn't work for me).
  5. Just tried again. Still the same error message.
  6. I just tried to upload a file to the FTP, and I get this message: "An error occurred opening that folder on the FTP server. Make sure you have permission to access that folder. The operation timed out." I posted that on the thread for the FTP site. I can email it to you, but I have a meeting now. I will check back ASAP.

  8. Changing to 2D fixed some problems, but has created others. When working in 2D, I can't Xform Scale the part correctly, without it relocating to a totally new and incorrect location.
  9. First, I am using X2 MR2. I am trying to follow instructions to create a fan. The instructions were written by someone who no longer works here, and they were written for mcam V9. The first step of the original instructions tell the user to change the Gview to side and the Cplane to side, and to set Z to 2.0. "Side" isn't an option for Gview or Cplane, but "Right side" or "Left side" as you all know. So I picked Right Gview and Right Cplane to try to create the part, and set the Z to 2 (using Status bar functions for all of these). After I set these and began to create geometry, which includes a spline, nothing is displaying correctly, and the spline isn't working the way it is supposed to. So, I tried to finish creating an airfoil for the fan, but it doesn't view correctly. I've searched the forum for similar topics, and tried a few other things, like clearing the update view check box in the View Manager, but nothing seems to work. Advice?
  10. Great success. Colin, I set the Feed plane to 0.1 absolute, then regenerated my toolpaths, and ran the verify again, with NO TOOL COLLISIONS! Thank you so much. Also, when I verify, I am using an STL file for the stock, in case anyone wants to look at the part file.
  11. The file is now on the FTP site. ftp://www.mastercam-cadcam.com/Mastercam_forum/MCX2_files/DG 11-24.MCX If it helps, I am working with the shading active. It's easier to see the stock under all of the toolpaths.
  12. I have the retract set to 0.25 (absolute), and I checked the Clearance check box, set it to 2.0 (absolute), but still end up with 20 tool collisions with the stock. Should I increase the retract or the clearance, or what? Am I missing something?
