Send me your file and I will glad to put it on your file. Mind if I share it with the forum using your part as a teaching tool?
Sorry I can't send the file, but I did kind of figure out what you said. The only problem I have is it wants to drill the first hole twice. Any Ideas?
-
It will work if you did with 5 axis drill in a 4th axis output then it could be one operation as long as they are the same size if using points and lines and incremental they all could be different depths.
Is there any way I could get you to put a example of that on the FTP?
-
That would be the post doing this and nothing do with the operation itself. Look and see if there is a mi or mr that allows you not to go home at index.
So other than the post situation am I thinking about this corectly, useing seperate Operations?

Hello All, I am currently programming a square part with holes at odd angles to the face for example 70 and 160 degrees. Currently when I do this I create Work Planes in relation to the angled holes and then create separate Milling (not C Axis) Operations for each hole. This works great and does what it is supposed to do. My problem is that after every operation the program outputs a home position move which wastes time. It would seem to me that I should be able to select the holes under one Operation. I have tried to do this using Rotary Axis Control but it throws my holes out of the correct alignment. What am I not thinking of here?

Yes I don't know why I was fighting that idea.
Thanks for the help!

Hello All, I feel stupid for asking this but here it goes. I'm programming for a horizontal setup with top view facing down the tombstone with front as B00. I have a countour that is at a angle 10 degrees off of 0, I'm expecting the tombstone to want to index 10 degress and mill a straight path in Z. What I'm getting is a change in Z with no index, what am I forgetting?????
Thanks

Hello All, I just started using this and I can't find any one else complaining about it so here it goes. My tools are showing in the incorrection orientation, either 90 or 180 degrees from where they should be. But when I run the same program in verify the show in the correct orientation. The code that is output is correct also so I not quite sure what the problem is. Any Ideas????
Thanks,

Hi all, I'm a beta tester for inventor and I was under the assumption that if I had the viewer for the version of Inventor Mastercam should be able to open the file. Now when I try to open a 2013 file Mastercam say's I don't have the viewer, which I do. Any ideas?

My thought process is this, I really only want to keep the most current file that I have which would be the X6 program. With multiple people on our site making programs I feel they could miss the MCX-6 file and update the MC-5 file. I can understand everyone eles's ideas on why the things are the way they are. I don't want to take the time to update all my files to the newest version each time it comes out. It's just my thought process.
-
Thanks for the answers, I could have sworn that previous versions did that.
-
When I open a .MCX-5 file in X6 and then save it Mastercam creates a new .MCX-6 and leaves the old .MCX-5 file behind. I would prefer it just updates the X5 file to X6 but I can't figure out what to do.
Thanks.

Could you be more specific on the speed and accuracy statement. What about tool life could it better based on the insert not being in the cut as long?
-
Here is the dumb question of the day, lets say you have a live tooling vtl what would be the reasoning behind turning a profile as opposed to milling the same profile. This is based upon the part being very basic mostly right angles.

Hello all, I just noticed something in X6. I have a lathe drill path and wanted to follow it with a lathe tap path so I copied the drill op and pasted it in next. I then under parameters selected the tap operation and then selected the tap I wanted to use. When I do this copy operation it never updates the feeds and speeds. Now if I create a new path it updates.
I just wanted to see if anybody else saw this or if it was just me.
Thanks

I appreciate everyones respones to this. I have been taking the time to go and update all the v9 programs with X5 update folder and while it is a slow process it is working. I understand the need to move on and I am willing to do it.
What I was really looking for was a direct statment relating to the fact that v9 files, at some point would no longer be able to be opened in the latese version of Mastercam.
Thanks for the responces.

Yes we are on maintenance so I have been trying to get everyone set up with X6 when I noticed the problem with mc9.

Hello all, I'm looking for some straight answers. Has any one had problems opening mc9 files with X6. My machine kept crashing even if I tried to use update folder. I was however able to use update folder in X5 to update the mc9 file with no problem, and X6 opens thoes fine.
With that said can anyone see a reason why I would want to keep a working version of 9 if I have updated all the mc9 files to X5.
Thanks for the help.

Hi all, I'm new to cnc vtl and I was hoping to get some program examples so I could look at how tool changes work. I appreciate any help.
Thanks

Why not just call you tool a face mill then use depth cuts with a tapered wall?
-
You could write a custome drill cycle like the what I have shown below:
pmisc2$ # Back Spot Face Cycle (User Option)
pdrlcommonb
pbld, n$, pzout , "F100.", e$
"M00", "(INSTALL TOOL AND PRESS CYCLE START)", e$
pbld, n$, pfspindleout , e$
pbld, n$, *sm08, e$
pbld, n$, *sg01, *tosz_a, [if dwell$, *dwell$], *feed, e$
pbld, n$, *sg00, pfzout , e$
"M00", "(UNINSTALL TOOL AND PRESS CYCLE START)", e$
pbld, n$, *sg01, *initht_a, "F100.", e$
pcom_movea

They didn't leave a manual barely any training.

So it doesn't appear that you use any B with tool breakage?
-
I'm trying to add the broken tool macro to my output code, but I haven't been able to find the information on what the callouts mean.
Broken tool is G65 P9853 B1. T1. H0.2
What does the B1. stand for?
Also if I could see a example of how someone uses it in a actual program that would be great.
Thanks
Chris

Not sure if your post has this but I have
dia_mult : -2 #Multiplier for output on X axis (Neg. switches sign of X)
Changing that between 1, 2, -1, -2 will give you radius, or diameter, or negative radius, or negative diameter, respectively.
HTH
I should have ststed that I'm using mastercams MPFAN. It doesn't have the dia_mult.
Lathe Stock transfer
in Industrial Forum

Hello all, am I missing something when I do a stock transfer all my wcs offsets are not what I selected in the operations. Mastercam is adding 1 to my starting offset but I don't want it to do that.
Thanks.
