Eric,
I took the mill level 1 course offered by my reseller. The first two days were drawing. Not alot on toolpathing. I went to the local technical college where they teach mc. i presented the problem i was having with this part and he said im sorry we dont get that deep in mc. If you have any suggestions or books i can refer to let me know.
I want to know this stuff really BAD!
Thanks yet again

thanks Eric for the help. my post is now outputting G02 and G03. I have been hung up on contour stubburn i guess. i will try wireframe.
the only work i have done with mc mill is drill holes so this is really freakin me out. i have been machining for 16 yrs. and just started in mc and it feels like i know NOTHING!
thanks again, sorry for the venting

Thanks for the reply,
(?What do you mean not smooth)
where the tapered walls come together. very hard for me to explain. i have not tried swep2d but i will now. when i used contour tapered walls the post outputs straight moves not G02 G03. which makes program to big for my old machine. sorry if this is not very clear. if i can i will try to send someone the drawing to make it clear(er).
Thanks again

hello everyone,
I am still new to mc and have been trying to machine a pocket around a radial part that has tapered walls on three sides. if someone could point me in the right direction would be great. boss wants all edges to be smooth. i have tried contour using tapered walls function and im close but it seems i have one issue after another with surfaces not smooth

Hello everyone,
X3, lathe level one. i have a cast iron tube that i am parting off five pieces (using transform) and there are gage cuts to check size. i have tried using manual entry but when it posts out all my M00 commands are stacked up at the front. Is this a post issue or you cannot use manual entry when in transform.
Thanks in advance

Columbo,

Hello everyone,
I have just installed x4 and trying to get auto highlight to work. I went to system config, screen and checked both boxes for auto highlight. Also tried the toggle switch under screen. probably a simple fix but not for me.
Thanks in advance

Thanks in advance

the tools in the library show up dark orange in color which means the tool is upside down. so what looks like a lefthand tool is actually a righthand tool. I guess alot of people use M3 in turning ops which is pulling the turret up away from the ways. For some machines this may be fine but i use M4 to push agianst the ways for a more rigid setup. the tools drawn correctly will be bright yellow then your post will output M3 and M4 correctly

btw no peck needed (form taps)
-
depending on the material i would try a form tap with a reduced shank. we thread mill 1 1/2-12 so im not familiar with anything smaller. is thread milling not a slow process and the chips still build up at the bottom of a deep hole. just curious

first i would like to say im sorry if i offended anyone. let me explain. my iscar rep comes in every week and asked me if i have broken any tools most of the time i say no. so of course he cant sell us any tools that week which saves my company money. he told me about a guy that works for a large company that would break tools on purpose just because he knows they will buy more. these are the type peaple im refering to.

the work ehtic from were i stand in the U.S. is quanity not quality. to get quality you must have a work force that is willing to work. probably the reason for unemployment.
-
has everyone heard of W. Edwards Deming? His concepts are what this country needs if we are to compete in the world market. QUALITY,QUALITY,QUALITY means PROFIT!!!

it must cost alot of cash a year for peck tapping. form taps go in come out done. move to the next hole.
-
You might try using a form tap. No need for a peck.
-
I'll try it. Thanks for your help

Hello everyone,

Im new to mastercam and new to the forum. Im programming a Takisawa TC4 lathe with a Fanuc 10T control. The post (mlpfan) outputs correct gear selection code for G97 but outputs nothing for G96. I read one of the forum answers to this question and it said to start the program out in high range which overtime will damage motors due to low torque. This also need to change when I go from O.D. to an I.D.

Thanks Scott,
I've been having the same problem with my laptop at home. Must be a Vista thing or a me thing.
