  1. Found the problem with the solid part not loading... It's a newer version than what I am running.
  2. Solidworks is installed on the same PC as MCX3. quote: it actually launches SolidWorks.. That may be the problem , SolidWorks is not starting. SolidWorks version = 2007 sp5.
  3. I just finished the install and am trying to check out the Import SolidWorks history example part but it wont open. It says Part file could not be loaded What version of SolidWorks does this work with?
  4. Check the shank diameter of the bits. We once had a batch of bad 3/8" bits that had some variation that caused a similar situation to what you described.
  5. quote: We quit using MDF because of the tool wear BrintC , what kind of tool wear are you seeing and how long do you expect a tool to last? We cut MDF and PB all day , every day with 1/2" tools @approx. 10-18k rpm feeding from 200-500ipm with no adverse tooling issues.

    new PC and V8

quote: You should seriously consider moving to X though. V8 is like 10 year old software V8 router is about 6 years old and we do have and use X2. We are on maintenance and have all the updates. But believe it or not X2 can not do a basic tool path that V8 can, it is a simple multi pass with a ramp. So until X can do this tool path we will be forced to keep it around. X may be great for all the complex tool paths required for 3d parts but it has no real advantage for simple 2d tool path with some drill holes and a few nested parts. IMO

    new PC and V8

Thanks CNC Apps Guy. After installing x2mr1 sp1 and going back to V8 it worked.
  8. Trying to run V8 on a brand new HP workstation Core2 duo,4gigs ram, XP pro , Nvidia Quadro 1500. It starts fine , does tool path , back plots , regens , rotates etc... BUT it goes in to NOT RESPONDING when I try to do a file save. Other than not using V8 does anyone have any suggestions.
  9. After installing X2 MR1 SP1 the update MasterCam feature has stopped working. I get the windoze "please send error report" pop up. Has anyone else seen this?
  10. quote: A mouse pad and a crapy calender just doesn't cut it. calender? all i got was a mouse pad
  11. My 2 cents. Not all of us need or want an extravagant solid modeling cad / cam system. We want fast and easy cam. We have a staff of cad people who’s job it is to provide us with good models. Leave modeling to the cad software. We do simple 2D work ( shape and drill ) 99% of the time and normally work with wire frame as it’s much faster and easier to edit if you need to. The only thing we use the drawing tools for are creating toolpaths manually and creating boundaries for pockets. Other than that all of the drawing tool buttons are just in the way. If anything there should be a dumbed down version for 2D Drilling work. That said , it would be nice to be able to bring a solids work part in and have MC recognize what has been chaneged and then give you the option to update your toolpaths automatically.. IMO
  12. I'm trying to program a part in 10 the same way I did in 8 and its not working. Here's what I'm trying to do. I want tool path down one side of a part 1 mm big and 14 mm deep. Then I want to move over 1 mm on the X , Z down 5 mm more and then come back the opposite direction. I want to do this without creating any geometry and only creating one chain. I was able to do this in Version 8 using Ramp (Plunge set at 7), Multi passes (rough passes 1 spacing 0) (finishing passes 1, spacing 1) with final depth and tool down both checked. Then I would need to have my top of stock set at -9. and depth at -14. These settings would make my first pass 14 mm deep and the second pass 19 mm deep. I can not make this work the same way in X. Any suggestions on how I can go about making this work?
  13. did you pick custom profile in the tool parameter?
  14. when trying to add a machine to the operation manager this warning is being displayed COpMgrTree::CreateGroup() - cannot create new group also the operations are not displayed in the operation manager. it worked friday and its broke today? any suggestions?
