Yours shows the problem on the opposite corner.. Branch only syncs the one start point unfortunately.

Reko - What I would recommend doing is using Sync By Entity, but to make that work, you'll need each chain to have the same number of pieces.  In this case, the easy button is to leave the three pieces of the square bottom alone so they sync up nicely, and use Wireframe > Curves > Curves from Splines to stitch the rest together:

And yes, I've spent WAAAAYYYYYY too much of my life working with surface sync points!

    Awesome!

    Thanks so much Aaron.

I know this is a dumb question but I have to ask.  Are the z depths the same on both ends of the line?

I just tried this and the line length works as I would expect it to.

I see the same thing, turn off 'Automatically determine Z depth' and it works correctly.

    That was it! Thanks!

Sort of lazy on my part to not click around a bit to see if I could figure it out, but reading the click boxes, I didn't think those would affect my length.

    Thank again.

  3. +1 to the proper fire extinguisher... and a bucket of sand to smother it too.

+1 to keep clearing the chips out of the machine often to minimize the chance of a big fire... and empty the machine completely when everyone goes home... then... all chips are removed from the shop and taken outside and away from the building, so if a fire starts, it is contained in a proper container away from everything.

+1 to it cutting like aluminum... well sort of... more like 7075 aluminum... it’s a bit tougher on tools because it’s abrasive, but not too bad.

The biggest thing to tell operators is, be careful not to rub a steel tool holder spinning in the spindle against a steel clamp, stud or fixture... the one fire I seen, started by the sparks of steel to steel contact that ignited some loose chips on top of the part.

It’s not a big deal as long as proper precautions are taken seriously.

Gunther... any timeline on when you might update this Chook for Mcam 2021 or does the Beta version work for the full release?

    Thanks

EDIT: Okay... never mind... I installed and tried the PB1 and it works great.

    Thanks again Gunther!!!

    Great add on!

True, we should do that topic and all put a +1.

Tbh I use the chain manager very rarely, but extra mouse clicks are lost money, for example that auto regen chook by gunther is really great, I would love to see great ideas like that incorporated into mc.

What's the auto regen chook? Can you briefly describe it and how it helps?

Also, can you point me to it? I don't see it in the standard chooks.

    Thanks.

Well I am one that didn't like the other way all the time, but there were times when I did so I would switch back and forth and tried that in 2021 and complained to QC when it wasn't an option anymore. I for one would like it back since I did switch between them.

    JM2C on it.

    I'm pretty flexible.

If I had my rathers, I'd probably stick with the old way... but only because it is ingrained in my head and muscle memory.

My favorite way of chaining is Cplane and full chain... even when there is a partial chain needed... partial still works because after my first click on full chain, and it goes all the way around... I can click a second time on the final entity and it terminates there.

So... having said that... I have a feeling once I get used to it, I'll be just as happy with it set to last.

Keep the changes coming, I say... I'll adapt and maybe even be the better for it!

That is the funny part is was an option until 2021 and it was removed. Like I said it was the opposite way for years and we could change it. Now we cannot.

I never even noticed it there before... just went with the defaults.

Who knows, maybe I'll like it better this way.

"...Makes some for us happy they finally went in this direction and now others want it like it was..."

I have to laugh since we just came to the same conclusion in the last couple minutes when I talked to the developer!

There is no way to override the new behavior, but we'll consider it ... Reko - thanks for posting.

I understand the System Configuration settings would get quite expansive if you made everything optional.

I guess it's just another thing to get used to... not that big of a deal.

    Thanks for the reply Pete!

  10. So, I noticed in Mcam 2021, when I change my chaining to "partial" for example... the next time I use chaining, it is still in "partial."

Same thing if I use "Plane." It defaults to the last way I used it.

I would rather it just defaulted to 3D every time, like it always has, instead of defaulting to the last way I chained something.

I looked, but I can't find a setting for the way chaining defaults.

Am I stuck with this change or can someone point me to a setting to control this?

    Thanks!!!!

    Reko,

I don't know for sure what the issue is, but when I try and make one in 2020 or 2021, it's like it doesn't respect the planes when using 3+1. I did this crank in 2019 no problems. I opened the file in 2020 or 2021 and just regen the stock model. This is what it gives me for a stock model. I went through my reseller (who is amazing and told me he has other customers with this same issue) they got a hold of CNC software. CNC logged it as a defect D-39190 as they were able to replicate it. I waited for all the maintenance updates for 2020 and it was not fixed. They released 2021 and still not fixed. I'm pretty bummed....

    Can you post a file?

I mean, I'm sure if it's logged as a problem, it's legit... but I wouldn't mind messing with it for reference.

I use stock models... sometimes a dozen or more in a file... and I never have issues.

I'm like to see what's happening there.

woot woot! used for 3 whole hours before logging my first defect!

Staying with 2020, this one is going to be unusable till it gets fixed.

    What issue did you find?

  12. 25 minutes ago, Corey Hampshire said:

Downloaded and installed with no issues. They have not addressed the logged defect that keeps me from being able to actually use the software (stock models are all screwed up). Looks like I am stuck on 2019 still until the first patch comes out. 😥 It's a shame as I really want to be able to use all the new stuff from 2020 and now 2021.

What's wrong with the stock models?

  13. Final Update...

Since we removed the NetHasp and switched over to the Codemeter software... everything has been flawless.

We have not had one single problem logging in... and no one has been kicked off... not even once... it's been about 2 weeks.

For anyone having trouble with the Nethasp... consider contacting your dealer and asking to "upgrade" to the Codemeter software licensing.
