  1. thank you very much u guys!!! i am using mastercam at work for calculating some jigs for roughing out parts on a pin router. using contour toolpath i figure i will be able to calculate the xy paths and make a template out of them , and get the z height using stops on the router foot pedal. incase u were wondering
  2. is it possible to convert a mastercam toolpath into geometry? and export is as an ides or dxf?? this would be very helpful.
  3. this new photoshop trick can be very useful..ie..use the selection tool to select certain colors or parts of a raster image, convert the selection into path, send path to illustrator then into mcam...or....visualize an inlay in photoshop, when your happy, make paths..etc etc
  4. The Paths to Illustrator command lets you export Photoshop paths as Adobe Illustrator files. This makes it easier to work with combined Photoshop and Illustrator artwork or to use Photoshop features on Illustrator artwork. For example, you may want to export a pen tool path and stroke it to use as a trap with a Photoshop clipping path you are printing in Illustrator. You can also use this feature to align Illustrator text or objects with Photoshop paths. To use the Paths to Illustrator command: Draw and save a path or convert an existing selection into a path. Choose File > Export > Paths to Illustrator. Choose a location for the exported path, and enter a filename. Click Save. Open the path in Adobe Illustrator as a new file. You can now manipulate the path or use the path to align Illustrator objects. Note that the crop marks in Adobe Illustrator reflect the dimensions of the Adobe Photoshop image. The position of the path within the Photoshop image is maintained, provided you don't change the crop marks or move the path.
  5. a "path" in photoshop is a vector...and it can be imported into adobe illustrator.
  6. you dont need to spend any money to get a simple logo into mastercam.. make sure you are familiar with the difference between bitmaps (jpeg etc..) and vector. download a trial version of rhino (30 saves ) or adobe illustrator(30 days) and trace over the image your best bet is rhino www.rhino3d.com as its 2d drawing tools are similiar to mastercam and you can export to iges with mastercam settings.
  7. they are alias studio tools surfaces and curves. the program exports in various iges versions. i will export in the latest few versions so i dont look like an xxxx when the models dont import into mcam7 thanks for the info
  8. i have some nurbs models that i want to show a potential employer.(mcam7 user) i need to know the best way to deliver them...does standard mastercam 7 import iges or is that an add-on? and if so, what version of iges? is their a better way? thanks in advance
  9. thats mastercam product level not programming skill level
  10. i am not using router . i have access to mill at work and i was hoping to use the library for my personal projects. is there anyway of getting hold of this?
  11. hello all! i heard somewhere that onsrud makes a mcam tool library for all the tools they sell. is this true? i saw nothing on their site.
