  1. Does anyone know if there is a feasable way to beef up a fanuc 6m controller so it can read larger amounts of code faster. The Leblond Makino it's leashed to is used to do 3-d for thermo forming molds. A program that should run in 24 hrs can take 2-3 times longer because of the read speed. The Greco link its tied to could be some of the problem but I think that even speeding up the link, it will bog down on only being able to consume the code so fast. I know I'm asking a lot, but you folks always seem to have SOME ideas. Thanks in advance. Tim Kozak
  2. No Thanks, We use "Sneaker Net" (Flash cards, CD's and yes 3-1/2 floppies) What's an ether-net?
  3. Is there a way to add a function to the list of options to select from? ie. I would like to add FILE-CONVERT-STL-XFORM since its buried so deep and we use to flip parts verified to the other side? I know how to assign buttons, but it isn't on the list of functions to assign. Thanks, Tim
  4. James, Roger, Millman, et al. Thanks! Needing to tweak time and date format isn't like needing a kidney, but everyone came thru. Fanuc 6M post is now outputting something that the controller can deal with and the operator can understand. Anybody got a kidney? Tim
  5. Roger, Somehow I missed your post before writing. You'll have to type louder I think that's just what I need. Will modify post later and try. I'll be sure to let all know. Thanks a bunch. Tim
  6. James, Can you not using the string functions change the nth character in the string into something else an then put the string back together. I used to do this in BASIC, but ... You don't use it you loss it. It's been too long. I think according to the post manual something like this can be done. A bit of newtime$=oldtime$ manipulated kind of thing? TIM
  7. My Post outputs like 9:30. When I load this post into th Fanuc m6, it shows up 09O30. The controller is changing a good output from the post to trash. Can the time format be changed perhaps to like 9.30 (am pm would be nice too.)
  8. I hate to ask a Dreaded Post question with so few postings on the forum, but I'll risk the "Gauntlet" anyway. My Fanuc 6-M doesn't like colons,ie,:, and therefore replaces them with a letter O. As you might imagine, this makes a nasty looking time output on the Fanuc's screen. Is there a way to format the date output from the post or is this hard-coded output from the C languge? Thanks in advance, Tim
  9. We use The Cooler by Spartan in all our mills to cut Aluminum. Has a nice smell, cuts nice and stays decent for a while. we suck the top oil layer off in Mon A.M. We use a shop-vac, which if you do it right sucks the oil globs off nicely without taking much good coolant at all. Doesn't foam much either. We do aluminum mold work though with little large part count runs. Tim
  10. quote: -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I just hope that Mastercam can continue to improve, I think that we should remember that it takes money to change and improve. The support that I have receive from my reseller, Mastercam, and the Professionals on this forum is unmatched by any other piece of equipment/software that I have ever used. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I don't contribute much, but I read most threads. The information received on this forum...Priceless. But, It is free and isn,t provided by my reseller or CNC. It's provided by my compatriots, maintainence or no maintainence.
