  1. This is not the first time I've seen this either, the electrodes are designed in Siemans NX, and no problems with trimmed surfaces, they are spot on. It doesn't matter how much I open up the tolerances it doesn't want to know. If I try using -0.21 it won't even create a toolpath all I get is REPORTING COMPUTATION ERROR. This is a solid model not a surface model. It seems to me that MASTERCAM is not capable of successfully machining SOLID MODELS!!! Everything is always a work around by creating a surface as you cannot individually pick a face of a solid model.
  2. The horizontal area toolpath won't machine this surface correctly @ -0.25 xyz for a graphite electrode. Yet it will machine the surface @ -0.2. please see attached pics
  3. Thanks for that. it must've changed it automaically on the new install, because i manually updated the folders when going from x6 to x7
  4. updated to X7 with the latest release pack. with a new program, say you do a drilling toolpath with a series of holes and use a spot drill the speeds and feeds are correct when you select the tool. next op which is to drill the holes to size so you select the correct size drill, it still uses the speeds and feeds from the spot drill. so you have to right click the drill and re-initialise the speeds and feeds to get the correct speeds for the new drill. next op is to ream the holes so you select the correct reamer, and it puts the correct speeds and feeds in. next op is to rough the block out with a slot drill, so you select the correct slot drill and those speeds and feeds are correct. next op is go in with a smaller cutter to finish, so you select that slot drill or end mill and it uses the speeds and feeds from the roughing tool previously selected, and so on. it seems that when you select tools within the same group or type of tools it won't automatically use the tools speeds and feeds, yet when you switch to a different tool type it will with that first tool selected (unless it already been selected and is in your tool tab ) Is this a bug or how it is going to be. It wasn't like this in X6, it always selected the correct speeds and feeds.
  5. This was a very useful feature especially if your machining graphite when using a hoover on the machine.
  6. That's all well and good. But you then need to get the software on the disks onto Usb. It's not that simple or so I was told by charmilles. As regards to the drive yes there is jumpers at the back. Even if you buy one from charmilles you will have to set the jumpers. it's in 720 format because machine manufacturers weren't fussed by the latest technology then got stuck in a rut because of having to upgrade all existing machines.
  7. I set most of my analyze buttons and a few others to come up when I right click the mouse.
  8. Lol. No I use mine in my right hand and mouse in the left. Probably cos I'm left handed. No it doesn't replace a mouse it's as well as. You can use it in google earth too. You can fly more like with a joystick. I've got a nice flight programmed round the iom tt course.
  9. i was issued with the space navigator but have just bought the space mouse pro. the wrist pad is well worth it and the extra buttons mean i hardly ever touch the keyboard. i was lucky enough to get mine through my apprentice using his educational card, look on there website under educational sellers. soooooo much cheaper. but no i would be lost without it, no i am lost without it. if you tried one for two solid days sat at a pc programming or designing you would be lost without one. (that is if you work in 3d)
  10. So who on here uses 3d space mice. I changed jobs earlier this year and in my new job was given one to use. Never looked back since and have just bought a new one with more functions and its the best thing I've ever bought pc wise.
  11. Just use a 3d connexion space mouse pro and you never really need to even touch the keyboard et alone go near the end button. But just pushing end straight away again it stops. It would be useful if you could control the speed with up and down arrow keys and also if it span slightly off axis you could use it to check and inspect a solid model. It's easy to do that with the space mouse but not so simple with just a mouse.
  12. Had similar issues with this when I updated to mu2. Couldn't get tool table or config settings to stick. Probably. Just me being a div tho. Hence it didn't stay on there long and back to mu1. But since reverting back the tools step peck and coolant setting won't stick. So everytime I open a file I have to change it. I'll try the way described above tom.
