  1. I almost had the same problem. I got an error stating my maintenance has expired (it hasnt) I thought I was in big trouble but everything worked. It is quite a program. The students caught on real quick. Good Luck.
  2. Do we all know this? Sorry if it was posted before.. I searched the forum and didnt find anything.. I downloaded and ran the program. Mine do not need to be swapped. HASP3 SIMs will not work with Mastercam X. As a result, we are establishing a HASP3 SIM swap procedure. ALL SIM swap requests must first go through the verification process at www.simswap.com.* (see link below) After downloading the HASP checking program located at simswap.com and checking the SIM, please read the instructions below: If it is determined that the old SIM is indeed a HASP3 SIM, please continue filling out the form, submit it and a new HASP4 will be sent no charge. You can choose either a white (parallel port) or purple (USB) type HASP. If it is determined that the SIM is already a HASP4, it is NOT necessary to do a SIM swap. If a SIM swap is being requested only for a different type of SIM than what you already have, please contact San Diego CAD/CAM. Please note shipping will be charged in this case. If a HASP3 SIM comes back to us for a SIM swap, and it did NOT go through www.simswap.com, or your Reseller, there will be an administrative fee of $50 for the swap. This will be billed to the requesting party before permanent codes are issued. All SIM swaps MUST be replaced by the same SIM number. SIMs will be shipped by CNC Software via UPS Ground unless otherwise instructed. UPS Red or Blue shipping will be an additional charge. Remember, if a SIM swap is requested, then later requested to change SIM back, a $50 administration fee will be charged to switch SIM back. *Please take note, we are NOT swapping out ALL HASP3 SIMs: Only maintenance customers who are due Mastercam X when released. Customers who later update to Mastercam X will have their SIMs swapped at time of update, if needed. After completing the appropriate forms, please send old SIMs to: CNC Software, Inc. 671 Old Post Road Tolland CT 06084 **Please send by a traceable method (example UPS or Fed-Ex. Not by US Mail)** Thank you in advance for your cooperation. If you have any questions, please contact me at [email protected] . Please take note: all USB and NEThasp type SIMs are HASP4 and do not need to be swapped.
  3. I had him go back and redraw extruding the inner diameter and 3 webs first, then adding the outer ring as a swept boss. I think we have it! As far as the boolean problem..he went back to an earlier drawing that doesnt have radii in the corners where the webs meet the inner circle and it worked. He is now trying to figure out why that was causing the problem. It is nice to have students who are this into things. He has to add the column support and has some other neat features. I will post it up here with some pictures of the finished product when he is done. Tom
  4. I am trying to join them using boolean. I click boolean, add. It prompts for target body and i choose inner ring. It then prompts for tool body and i select outer ring. I click done and i get an error (parasolid kernel interface error, boolean error. face imprinting operation failed) Leehound how did you combine them? Tom
  5. Thanks everyone.. Although I very rarely post, I always watch and read. There is a tremendous amount of talent here. Many of the things have greatly helped me to teach my students. I figured the problem was because there was two solids, I didnt know how to combine them. leehound ,thad and kamman25....thanks! I have shown Kevin and he is ready to go! PS...I showed him, deleted it and made him start from scratch... Thanks again Tom
  6. We are looking for some help on a part that one of our students is generating. He is designing a steering wheel that will be cut from aluminum for his Senior Project at our school. We have worked hard over the last few hours trying to get something to work with no success. I have up-loaded the drawing to the solids folder of the ftp site. The file name is steering2.mc9. We are trying to put a .100 fillet on the 3 cutouts in the wheel. We choose the correct edges. The problem we are having is that it fillets the inner ring all the way around the entire diameter. Kevin, a senior in high school, would be greatly appreciate any help from the wise people of this board. Thanks, Tom Matuszak Machine Technology Instructor McCann Technical School North Adams, MA
  7. I agree with the Haas. We have to VMC's and are looking into a lathe. We have had no problems with either machine and they do offer a 15% discount on the machine price and any accessories added at the time of the machine purchase. I have also heard, can't verify though, that they may have some type of program where if you buy multiple machines at the same time they "throw in" another machine as a lender. 8. We have just finished the first chapter of the Mastercam Volume 1 curriculum. I went to correct the quiz and can not find an answer key anywhere. I have found the answers for volume 2 on the instructors CD. Am I missing something here? We paid $4500 for this curriculum, i sure hope there is an answer key somewhere. do any of you know?
