  1. Thanks for the replies guys. I get solid models about 2/3 of the times so creating wireframe from that works good. Most of the files I work with have thousands of surfaces, so picking them one at time would not be fun. I was looking for the easy way out, after all I am a programmer. I know there is an unlimited about of work arounds for issues, it depends on the programmers imagination to come up with it. Force the software to do something it may not have been intended to do.
  2. Hello all. I have to create wireframe off of surface models, it makes my files huge and hard to deal with. I use create curves on all edges, I get duplicate curves on all the edges that share an edge with the surface next to it. I use delete duplicates after to try and thin out the geometry, but doesn't seem to help much. I've tried fit arcs and lines when I create the curves, doesn't seem to help. I've tried simplify spline after I create the curves, doesn't seem to help. I've tried open edges when I create the curves, but that just gives the outside perimeter of the set of surfaces I've picked, I need all the edges. I'm not sure what break angle does when creating the curves, maybe someone could explain what that is for me. If anyone has some ideas I'm all ears. Thanks in advance. X5 MU1
  3. Hello all. I have an on going issue with our HAAS mills. We DNC feed all our mills, 7 in total. Four are HAAS and 3 are Milltronics. I'm currently using Focal Point, but I have downloaded and trying out DNC-Max. Here's what's happenning, the mill will freeze up if the feed rate exceeds 100ipm for an more then a few minutes, sometimes just 5, sometimes 2 or 3 hours. If I lower the feedrate to under 100ipm the mill will not freeze. When it freezes the only way to un-freeze it is to e-stop and reboot the mill. I do not have this issue on our Milltronics. HAAs says I need handshaking set to XModem to fix this. Neither Focal Point of DNC-Max has this options. For years I've used in Focal Point: Baud 38400 Stop Bits 2, Data Bits 7, Partiy Even, Data Type ISO, Handshaking XON/XOFF, and E.O.B. CR LF. With DNC-Max I tried the same settings and have tried using what HAAS recommended: Baud 38400, Stop Bits 1, Data Bits 8, Parity None, Data Bits ASCII(this one was the only option to get Parity of None),Handshaking XON XOFF. This freezing issue has just started in last year or so. I don't know if the toolpath from mastercam is somehow causing this or not. It seems strange that if you slow the mill down, it will run. I know the baud rate is fast enough because there is code visible on the monitor so the mill is not starved for code. I guess if some of you could tell me the settings that you use and also the HAAS experts, is there a setting I need to check on the mills? Thanks in advance. X4 MU3 Multi-Axis
  4. Thanks for all the responses. I've downloaded the trial version of DNCMax. Could someone tell me what the remote request program should like? We use this on Focal Point and saves a lot shoe leather back and forth to the computer. Thanks again.
  5. Hello all. Is there a way to use a containment curve with the tool plane set to top but the tool stay contained as if you were looking at it from a front view? I've attached a screen dump trying to show this. The picture shows a front view of a toolpath using a curve drawn in a top view. I need the toolpath to stay contained in the white curve a drew in a front view. Thanks in advance. X4 Mu3
