Has anyone used Macro record to make solid modles and have they had any success at it. If so can you post a macro so I can see how it works.

The only way i can get mastercam to do anything like parametric programming is to use the macro record and thats poo. is that your way of saying mastercam is parametric.

I have done the SW training and found it hard to grasp (dumb mybe)If I could alter dimensions in mastercam, the same way as in solidworks I wouldnt have to learn two systems. or is it just a syntax thing.

When will mastercam catch up with the other solid modelng software packages and use parametric programing, after all i have been told the kernel is the same for a lot of systems.

Whats the difference, its the same as recording from the radio, If its not for public use or used to make a profit, no one can touch you, as the guys says he is a poor student trying to learn mastercam, now asking for money is something else!

With stl its like in the old days when engineers put sketchs on the back of *** sorry! cigarette packs(*** means cig in uk) cheapo solid model packages all do stl out put, so sometimes I have to live with stl.

I need to manipulate the model to create mold n dies etc

You are both at fault, my company just made 100k of scrap cos we had tools made by a sub-con cnc shop, He cut the part wrong, But our own inspection pro did not pick it up and so it went out to the end user. But the sub-con picked up the tab to re-machine the tools FREE. So be safe and check all cad data against the Drawings and then check again. And by the way we stood the full cost of the mistake to our customer.
