I need to machine a series of trivial mostly flat molds for pouring fine concrete in. Given the complexity of the surface and the fact I was hoping to do this on a Thermwood router, I need a stable waterproof material. 2" PVC could work, but is rather expensive (~$1500.00 per 4'x8').
Anyone ever poured and machined Alumilite? Its cheap and would work fine for the few tests I need. Seems to be about ~$30.00 per Litre...
Thanks!
Anyone got a reco for an alternative to ren shape, I have to mill a 5-axis based shape to be cast with plaster and need the surface pretty smooth.
Thanks guys!
This is a different company in our group. There's no one there can use mastercam
They are looking for one of those simply gui packages that has the cutlist predefined, and they say "4 boxes, 120" etc" and and some simple cut list comes flying out... I smidge lame but thats what they want.
Thanks!
When I try to start X, I get the following message:
"The following error has occurred: the resource file was not setup. Please restart Art to return to last known stable step. Then we recommend to save your work for backup purposes."
I have seen this in X3 and 4 on Vista x86.
Anyone got an idea?
Thanks!
Hey Guys,
Anyone doing this or know about it? I'd appreciate and advice from someone who has experience in this.
I need to get some cutters for a couple of 5 axis routers similar to these:

Any NA based distributors preferably in Canada would be nice!
Thanks for any info!

What are you guys seeing performance wise with Mastercam X2 MR2 Patch 2. Is it comparable yet to WinXP. I have a new install to do and can go either way.
Searching the forum shows mostly negative feedback but I am wondering if anything has been improved.
Thanks!

If I create an op with one post, then switch to another the misc vars stay enabled and populated incorrectly? How can I purge the "old" driving data that making the ops this way?
Thanks
James, it is buggy. Trust me I know how it works, I must not be explaining myself right...
Pete, after creating edge curves from a bunch of surfaces on a mold with two features that are symmetrical, I attempted to mirror the geometry since when I mirrored the toolpath it backploted fine, but posted wrong?? After mirroring the splines, it messed them up repeatably.
Send me an email addy to forward the file too, its very repeatable.
Thanks!
1) When I mirror some edge curves, it corrupts the splines???
2) When I have create a WCS using picked lines, it still behaves like it did in v9, I assume there was no change in code there? Very buggy... You cant change the number of the wcs in an existing op to modify it since when you pick the number you want, it inputs some other number?
3) When I am in a new WCS and try to mirror toolpath, it doesnt use the active WCS's X or Y axis, so I have to manually create geometry.
4) disabled misc vars dont disable, even though they are set as such?
Anyway, has anyone encountered these and now of fixes?
Thanks
How do you call a mirror in mcam9 so that this post does the gcode for the mirror? I know how to perform a mirror of the code using an operation, but that is different?
Thanks,
Hi, In v9 mpfan.pst I see the option for mi1 as this:
# mi1 - Work coordinate system
# 0 = Reference return is generated and G92 with the
# X, Y and Z home positions at file head.
# 1 = Reference return is generated and G92 with the
# X, Y and Z home positions at each tool.
# 2 = WCS of G54, G55.... based on Mastercam settings.
So where in the mastercam file do I make the setting for the fixture offset I want to use. For example, I use G92, but dont know where to put in the x,y and z values. My machine also uses G52L* for ficture tables so if I change the code a bit to output G52L# instead of G54, where do i enter the fixture table number?
Thanks!
