  1. Machine simulation, the sooner you release it the sooner you can start working on it. We mill/turn guys are using a hell of a lot of precious imagination, visualizing turrets that aren’t there.
  2. So I’ve been doing mill work (large mold work mainly) for 8 years now, and I decided to switch to laths (5th axes, live tooling what not) for a little more of a challenge (and O boy!!!) but any way. I don’t understand why mastercam lath seems to be overlooked as far as advancements? I mean the chamfer add on in x6 for facing is a nice touch (even though it only recognizes the material and not the points) but if I have a shaft with details on both sides I can’t save the STL file from side one (op1) and use it for chucking on side two (op2). I have to actually draw the part with the remaining material and flip it. Where in mill you can save your stl and update as new stock dimensions? I know about “flip part” and it don’t work as well as just drawing it. I’ve been noticing a lot of things lacking now that I’m a “lath guy”, in mill it seems there was nothing I couldn’t make, now in lath it seems like I question whether or not it can be done?
  3. try isolating the chamfer buy extending it, then id create curve around the surfaces, project it up, forming a bounding box, (or containment and) that way it would be a smooth all around.
  4. nope, i never noticed that.... i thread mill though
  5. I took classes as well, thay def help. But like everything else in this feald you learn so much more hand on, like noing master cams glitches, and how to work around them. Every thing u want to do is one button away, and not to often is anything as easy as it seems , play with it every chance you get and hang on every word of people that know. If your a book worm you can get the beginner books on line, thay will go over step buy step on how to complete different projects.
