  1. We recently upgraded fro X9 to 2017 and are quite impressed with the improvements. One area we are struggling with is some apparent changes to the way the NetHasp seems to work. With X9 if I launched Mastercam from my desktop, it would simply log off anyone else using it, giving them one chance to save the work before it closed. Now, if one instance of Mastercam is open elsewhere, I get a "License not found" error when I attempt to launch. This means I need to walk out to the shop floor to shut down the other instance before I can launch, a huge PITA! Speaking with tech support, they let slip that previous versions of Mastercam would allow multiple seats open at the same time, but that had be fixed with 2017, which I suspect is causing this behavour. Anyone else finding this? Is there a way to get it to simply log off another user without requirement me to go for a hike 5 times a day to shut down the other seat? This is definitely not making this software friendly to use, in fact it's a constant struggle to use it at all the way it is working....
  2. Recently upgraded to 2017 from X9 and have noticed when opening any file created from previous versions of Mastercam that only level 1 is visible. To see the rest of the drawing we have to manually turn on the other layers. Has anyone else noticed this? Is there a way to have it default to opening the file with all the levels turned on as it always has? Thanks in advance!
  3. Much appreciated. Ya, it's ancient, but hey, it works great and it's paid for!
  4. Hi, Thanks for responding! I have tried that, but it still chains in both directions. I am using a very old version of MCAM (MC9). That option is there, but it doesn't seem to work. -T.
  5. Hi, Is there a way to have all contour chains in one axis machined in the same direction? We have an issue with deflection in a machine and need to always machine in the same direction (from left to right). If the chaining results in machining in both directions we lose accuracy. The items being machined consist of many chains and it is not practicle to manually select the chains so we can control the direction the cutter is travelling, we need to be able to window select the chains and have Mastercam create the chains, but only maching in a single direction. Any aware if this is possible? Thanks in advance! -T.

    Edit Text

Is text editing available in X3? Is there a way to convert the text to lines and arcs? (in MC9)
  7. Hi, Using Mastercam 9 and am wondering if it is possible to edit text that has been imported from a .DWG file. When I open the file, the text is there, but I am unable to change it in any way. I would like to be able to edit the text and use the text in toolpaths. I also need to convert the text to lines and arcs and export the file as a .DWG. The files being used are generated in another package, so I can't use Mastercam's text creator. Any help would be appreciated. Cheers!
  8. Thanks for the tip, I will give this a try later today and see what happens. I did send the file to JParis@CNC Programming Solutions®, he got the same results, both directions in the chains. I believe he said it is the nature of the geometry as there are lines that intersect with each other and this may be tricking the software.
  9. Well this has me buffaloed. I have tried the above technique very carefully and it still chains in both directions. Reversing the chains manually would work, but not a realistic option due to the numbers of files we are working with.
  10. Hi John, That is exactly what I have been trying, with no luck. The chains are still going both directions.
  11. Hi, Yes, I need to use a window to select the chains, there a lots of them...
  12. Hi, I have searched here and could not find any references to this question, so I thought I would post. I am using Mastercam 9 Mill for some simple 2D machining. I am trying to chain a series of lines and arcs and need the cutter to feed from one direction only, from left to right. I have had no luck figuring out how to do this, there are a couple check boxes called "One Way" but they do not seem to have any effect, the chaining is still a mixture of both directions. Is there a way of accomplishing this without manually selecting each chain or manually reversing the direction of the chain? Cheers! T.
