  1. We have some flat pattern files that have hundreds of points on them. We need to create arcs at all of these points. Is there a quick way to create these arcs without having to select each point individually, maybe a chook I am not aware of?

  2. Make sure all of your operations are using the same nci file. Make sure all of the operations you wnt to post are checked, right click in the ops manager, choose options, then change nci designation, then chose the nci file name you want. All of the ops you want to post need to use the same nci file.

  3. My Data flute catalog shows they have a 1.25 dia 7 flute carbide endmill with 5.0 length of cut with an overall length of 7.5. Is this length of cut enough. These are available with good coatings also. List for about $650, although I have never paid the full list price. Usually get about a 30% discount. I have not used this particular endmill, but I have used one of their 3/8 dia 2 flute endmill sticking out of a holder 4.25. Ran at 2000 rpm with no chatter on finish passes. These people make som fine cutters.

  4. Just a thought here. You might call Iscar. They have a custom tooling shop here in the DFW area where they make custom toolholders and inserts. They have a 9 axis grinder there. It sits on a 6 foot thick piece of granite. I don't know for sure if they can do this or not. Might be worth a call though.

  5. When making finish passes on 2-d cuts or pockets. the ability to make both Z and XY finish passes at the same time. As it it is now, mastercam makes the z finish pass and then one more pass for the xy. Also the ability when making multiple passes on xy with keep tool down checked to rapid to the start point instead of moving at the programmed feedrate.

  6. I feel your pain. I to like to work with stl files in verify and the transform thing bugs me to. Sometimes you can transform them and it works, sometimes I get the error messge that it's not watertight and will use an approximation. Have't gotten a good answer to my problem. Anyone else hve this problem?

  7. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

rotation of the part rather than the tool in rotary toolpaths, tombstones, (and c axis lathe) is a big benefit.

    +1+1

I have trouble tranforming stl files to other places say on a fixture without them becoming not watertight.

  8. We use some stuff call sponge cord in 3/16 dia. It's a little softer than surgical tubing an seems to be a little sticky and gives a good seal when a little wet with coolant. We buy it from a local rubber suply house.
