  1. Hi guys, I am having two small problems with this setup sheet I am creating with the active reports designer.

    1. When I create the setup sheet for the attached file it has trouble outputting the tool holder correctly. It seems to intermittently stop at decimal places. Some holders will output the entire name, but in the attached file it stops at the first decimal. Is there some VB code to fix this?

    2. This setup sheet is using too many files. I want there to be the "Setup Sheet (MILL)" file with a reference to the "-Setup Sheet (MILL-TOOL)" file called out at the bottom. I think it should be possible to take the information from "-Setup Sheet (MILL-TOOLS)" and "-Setup Sheet (MILL-FILE)" and keep it in the MILL file.

    Thanks for any help.

  2. I have another problem that I am hoping someone can confirm isn't isolated to my computer. When I drag geometry from one operation to another I no longer get a prompt to either add or replace. Mastercam now defaults to add. I only used replace before so this is very annoying and dangerous. I missed it the first time and could not figure out why I had so many duplicate toolpaths.

By the way my VAR just gave me Jim's contact info and has asked me to forward my other problems to him.

    Thanks!

  3. I tried using Update Manager. Now whenever I try to open Mastercam it crashes. This is on a new computer I just built last week. I am the administrator and have full privileges.

I decided to completely uninstall Mastercam and download the full version of MU1. Now whenever I doubleclick the Mastercam icon nothing happens at all. I checked the Mastercam folders and Mastercam didn't create the "my mcamx7" folder. It did create the "shared mcamx7" folder, but its empty. Anyone have any ideas while I wait on my VAR to figure this out?

  4. I am not a beta tester. What I meant was I was shocked that nobody else caught it and reported it.

I'll start editing the .xml file

My VAR just got back to me so I will have him help me if I need it.

    Thanks guys!

For the 3 vs. 5 axis engine...... just have a point toolpath with the planes set to right or left or something other than what your working on.... it will default to 5 axis engine.

For the collision checking, find the file "MastercamSimulatorDefaults.xml".

open it with notepad and edit till your hearts content!

You can turn on the collision checking and it will be default.

    Are you a beta tester?

You waited for sp1, but didn't search the forum...... odd.

    Welcome to the forum!

  5. Does anyone know of a way to save the verify settings as a default? Every time I open a file and verify the Mastercam default settings are applied. It takes a good amount of time to edit them all on every part.

Maybe this will save somebody some time. We verify using stock models. The default Mastercam verify settings have the "Simulation engine" set to "3-axis". This causes the stock model to extrude down the most upper profile and not show any underlying geometry. Changing this to "5-axis" fixes this problem. Now every time you verify you will need to change this setting.

Mastercam also defaults to turning off all collision detection which can be very dangerous if you are used to it being turned on. It also defaults to color loop on an operation change not on a tool change.

I'm surprised this made it out of beta. I even waited for SP1 to avoid problems like this!
