  1. Hello all, I was wondering if anyone has any experience in using a Mazak Cut Feeder? We just purchased one and Im not sure of its capabilities. Of course Mazak claims it can cut anything! Sure it can! But at what cost? Any help would be greatly appreciated. John

    M/C DNC

Hi All, We just purchased two Mazak multiplex machines. Can M/C communicate the same as my G code machines? Im stepping into a new realm of DNC with these Mazak's. Any help would be greatly appreciated! John P.S. I forgot to tell everyone that we will be programming at the machine for the time being. I will want to store those programs offline. 3. Here my picture! Its on Jays FTP site under SHARK.JPG
  4. In Response to Mike R. Mike I have also found that manufacturing ie CAD/Cam instructors DO thumb their noses at the machine trades in itself. I like to think of it as educated ignorance. Those instructors that we are talking about probably don't have any machining background at all. At Thaddeus Stevens they teach manual machining(and all its components)before they get into the CAD/CAM realm. Im glad that there are schools like that to develop machinists along with CAD/CAM programmers. If you teach this way you get the best of both worlds! P.S. Matt ...Yes they have VER 7.2 with the upgrade coming...last I checked [ 08-21-2001: Message edited by: johnl ]
  5. Thats the ticket!! Thanks
  6. Hi gang, Im not sure if we are doing something wrong over here but when we open up an existing MC8 file all our operations in the operations manager have the big red X. Are we not doing something correctly? john
  7. I just got the Beta version. I have only one thing to say so far. SWEEEEEEEEEEEET!

    Macro

Hi Gang, I created a few macro's(lathe) to speed up programming for family parts. Im trying to edit these macros to make them a little more programmer friendly. I went through the help file and did eveything it stated but to no avail. I created these macros in ver 7.2C but I am now using 8.1 It doesn't seem logical to have macro's version sensative so I must be missing something. Any help would be appreciated
  9. Hey Mats, Did you get the files I sent you?
  10. Hey Guys, I anybody wants to blow their minds go look at Mats machines under his link. Check out the Index machines. I pulled it up and just started laughing! Sorry mats but Im REALLY glad Im not you!
  11. Mats, Let me know if you got the email. I was experiencing some technical difficulties.
  12. Hey PDB, Tell JE to send a rough draft this way!
  13. This goes to the gang up in Tolland. When I was up there for post training we had a technical writer in our class working on a new manual. Is ther any update on that?
  14. Hi Mats, Lets get started by saying Im glad Im not you! I also have a couple of twin turret machines and Im not a very big fan of them. I have been working on a post for a Mori Seki ZL-25. I have the wait codes outputting properly(for our use) nut I dont have the proper output for two separate programs. James Meyette and Dave Thomson have been my lifelines in this project. I would be glad to help out in any way I can. Maybe together we can solve all our problems. By the way James and Dave, Im not getting the buffer idea. Im afraid I dont know enough yet to help myself. Im not giving up yet but Im running out of hair.
  15. Hey Ken, Sounds like James needs a get well card or two!
  16. Ken, I can see your point about asking the right questions escpecially if you don't know what your future demands will be. This is only my opinion but folks going into the 5 axis realm are not making these decisions at the spur of the moment. We purchased M/C with the intentions of using up to the 5th axis. It was the multi axis capabilities that sold us on M/C. We had every manufacturer in here to demonstrate their product. We tried to come up with every possible hurdle before our purchase and it worked out in our favor. Remember that old saying "Buyer Beware"
  17. Hi Gang, It seems this string is turning into a real firestorm! I am also a 5 axis user and Im also a future software developer. To all the users out there the folks at M/C are not and could not be in the business to give away technology. M/C has to continually generate revenue by developing and supporting their software. The amount of labor involved with the 5 axis stuff is very demanding. So demanding other things would suffer(other customers). I know when we bought our version of M/C the salesman left here really beat up! I dont think he had ever gone through such a rigorus question and answer session than he did with us. We knew exactly what we were getting with our version of M/C. We had no surprises. I can symathize with all the 5 axis users out there cause its been a very difficult journey. All I can ask the other users out there is did you ask all the right questions and if you did why did you not demand a 5 axis post with your package!
  18. Hi gang, Im trying to use your ideas on iges or stl files for verify, but I am running into a snag. When I try to use either one of these files I am only getting half of my part. It should be a complete round. Is there something I am doing wrong? Thanks in advance for your help! John Lovell
