  1. BerTau what I do is save the file in its unshaded state. That will solve that little problem for you!
  2. I have used the Scholars Mastercan book in the past with favorable results. I have the V6, 7, and 8 book. Thats put out by John Lin and Tony Shiue. It does a pretty good job with regard to wire frame tool paths and projecting yaddy yaddy yaddy... the ISBN # is 1-886552-15-0 or go too www.scholarsbook.com woops! I just went to the site and didnt see the Version 8 book there. But call your dealer thats how I got mine. [This message has been edited by CADCAMGuru (edited 05-23-2001).]
  3. Yes Luther.. That what I did in the begining... But for whatever reason it would not allow me to post both a transformed tool path and a merged tool path unless I made a new group.. Nontheless I got it to run.. Thank you all for the help
  4. Kathy the optimize function should have done the trick for you.. One pocket at a time....Would it possible to look at your file along with the tool paths? Providing you havent figured it out already... Mike
  5. Just a quick question. Im using the latest version of MC8. I have a bunch of tool paths some imported, translated some mirrored etc etc.... Now I remember is V7 all you had to do to merge tool paths was edit the NCI and select merge. Obviously its not the case in V8. So what I did was import the NCI file I wanted in the ops manager and tried to post a transformed toolpath along with a merged toolpath at the same time... No dice... The only work around I found was to create a new group merge the transformed tool path in the new group along with the merged tool path and presto magic we have the toolpath im looking for. That worked... is it just me or am I missing something here?
  6. Hi Andy, Im only speaking for myself here, I use a FireGL1. I use that card for both MasterCAM and ProE under NT and currently im using the same card on the Win2k platform flawlessly. There are lots of different cards that you can use for a reasonable price. Just watch the post and also I suggest searching for the thread with regard to Video cards. Remember... you get what you pay for
  7. Just quick question... Did you change your cut tolerance? .001 is the default and works ok for most stuff. But when it comes to molds and fussy looking parts you should set that cut tolerance to .0001. Mike
  8. Kathy I feel your pain. I run into that all the time with regard to mirroring toolpaths. You ought to try it in 3D toolpaths... Its quite an eye opener ESPECIALLY when you dont back plot it and the only way you find out is... Well we wont go there!
  9. Tony I have run into a similar problem with 7.2 where I had a hidden line and went to do a repaint or fit and poof..... The app blows up! However I havent been able to duplicate this in 8. So who new... Might want to try creating a new surface. just a thought.. Good luck Mike
  10. David could you send me your file? Id be more that happy to take a look at it and discuss with you as to whats going on. Regards, Mike
  11. the way I do it is xform translate 0,0,0 copy and then change the result to a new level. hope this helps..
  12. Thanks =o) I was aware of that and use it all the time. I wish there was a way to get rid of all the blanked entities without losing geometry.
  13. Ok... Heres the story. Over the years as CAD has grown we all know that the files have gotten more complicated thus much bigger. The file I'm working with right now is the core half of a mold. I haven't gotten to the cavity yet. Anyhow to get to the point, is there anyway that I can delete blanked entities that are associated without losing the parent geometry? This would definitely make for a much smaller file. Any help appreciated.
  14. One quick question. I am dimensioning either horizontal or vertical and when I do so I don't have the option to select and endpoint, midpoint etc. etc. for the initial pick. All it will allow me to do is sketch the initial point and then the selection menu appears to select the second point. I'm using 8.1 the exe file is dated 1/26/01 Thanks for the help Michael Harrington ------------------
