  2. Verndog - So your saying you reboot your computer in XP to run MC9 - I'm stumped, I have X2 and have considered x4, but I'm so much more productive in 9 - I did though just purchase a new computer with Win7 - MC9 opens and runs fine, but I cant slow the graphics accelerator - therefor, MC9 acts funny when it comes to the Chaining Arrow, Dimension lines and such - I must have my 9 and I'm really liking the shiny new Win7. Am I out of luck?
  3. So, does it work or not? I agree the mac is best left at home in the kitchen, but when I'm at home and in the kitchen, I'd like to use my mac pro to run MasterCam.
  4. OK, I'm still in MC9 (don't tell anyone) I'm a little slow. Anyhow, I have been chalanged to load some of my recient work up with critical deminsions and Key Notes Labled and what not - its like an "Architect Thing", I mean I have to load it up. Notes,Notes,Notes. several questions, but im going to start with just two and add on as we go. Im still a little brain dead from all the "Blue Notes" - ok. 1. When chaining a deminision is there a way to lock the leader lines togeater so its nice and streight? 2. When creating a Note with a leader line is there a way to do Multiple Notes With Leader. and how do I create my own symboles. Thanks.. Andrew Remember -- 9 -- I could use X if it would help. Im almost ready - but im still a little more intrestred in getting this job done.
  5. I have produced parts/product for this one company for 5 years - Now they have decided to move, buy their own machine and cut their own parts. Yesterday the owner called me and asked me to make a copy of the MC9 files for him - he didnt ask for the NC Files - I dont think he knows the diffrence. The majority of the files he didnt pay for. Should I hold out and insist that he pay for my work? Andrew.
  6. I hope that this doesn't even beging to infringe on any laws that might pertain to MCam , but networking/computers has made my shop what it is today. I use LogMeIn Pro to run ALL my systems. Either in shop, on a boat, in the Atlantic, or even from a CellPhone with Inetenet. I program and watch my shop from anywhere in the world - but - I never take my HASP/KEY away from my shop. I have reciently learned about NComputing.com Both the N100 and the N1700 and soon to come the N200. These devices evidently allow one CPU to split up to 10 Terminals, each able to run software and share files and folders on the HOST Computer. This NComputing device even works over the internet. This would allow terminals all over the world. Does any one use this NComputing System ? Does it work with MCam ? Does this make CNCSoftware mad Andrew

    Setup sheet

John, Are your saying that you can get a setup sheet like the one showen by Riouel for free? where and how? I typically dont use setupsheets, I only add comments in the header - that get overlooked - but I might start - looks to me that there is a lot of helpfull information to be given to the operator.
  9. I haven't spent alot of time trying to figure this one out because I really haven't been using much of X; but - when I navagate MasterCAMX to my MC9 folder to open a V9 file I get the message file not found. I have found that in order to open a V9 File in X I must open the folder containing the V9 file and drag and drop it on my X Desktop Icon. not exactly a time saver. Where whould I look to correct the "File not found error?" I might decide to move up to X one day and I dont want to open files by dragging and dropping them.
  10. I have been using MC to machine guitar parts for several years. Last year I spent over 20k on a softawre package and training to carve guitar necks and their transitions from headstock to neck and neck to body - the 20k on didn't help. I have reciently started my move to Router Pro including my upgrade to X. Today I discovered SURFACING - Awsome. I can 3d toolpath with the best of them, but I had never seen Surface Toolpath - THATS QUICK! - Just of the phone with China - WOW - Now I need to finish this project - Is there an easy way to quickly blend the surace between the neck and body/headstock and then edit results?
  11. Today I saw mastercam do things that I can't even begin to price, quote: How much does it cost not to have Mastercam. It the greatest things I have heard all day, and its true! I have spent alot of cash dollars on other wonderful software, but, mastercam "gets the job done and gets it done right- the first time." Andrew.
  12. I haven't made the switch to X yet, but I'm trying. Although I have made the purchace, it has proven to be a very difficult move - Noware near as easy as going from V8 to V9. Although the Cert. seams great, doesnt it seem a little like CNC Software is using the Cert. program to force the switch and increase sales. Andrew.

    Origin

john, I figure why would be the wrong question and that I should study a little on WSC in V9. Andrew.

I have been trying to make the final switch to "X" from MC9 - Actually installed "X" yesterday. I wish it was just a little more similar. Anyhow. Whats wrong with Xfrom-Translate. Simple keystrokes "-X,T,A,E,D,B, 'Pick your from Point with your mouse', 'then hit the letter 'O' " The majority of the menu keys (and esc) are used by the left hand, leaving my right hand on the mouse, enter or the phone. The letter "O" automatically inputs x0,y0,z0 - even if your not in 3d. Am I wrong about this? doesn't "XTAEDBE -click- O" make things faster? (and is this possible in "x")? Andrew.
  15. This appears to be a old question about saving steps when opening MC8 files in MC9.. was there ever an solution to this? or should all MC8 files ultimately be converted manualy to MC9..
