I'm trying to create this part, and think I have it down mostly, except it's not wanting to take my depth of cut parameters. I don't know if this is because i'm still trying to generate code in wireframe or what, but it seems the tool is staying in the same Z position while it's making the cuts
I can't seem to generate a partial ellipse. I can't trim the points I don't want. I don't see any partial ellipse creation settings. I must be missing something, can anyone help? pic related
I'm not sure how many old-timers there are on here, but in Geoprep there's a way to preview your tool paths from your code. I'm sure there's a way to do this from Mastercam X Editor, but I'm not sure how to go about it.
yyeah, I don't have the means to take a course, and there aren't many videos online that cover the lathe in mastercam..so if you could just help me out i'd really, really appreciate it
Pic related, it's the geometry of the finished part.
problem is every time I use rough/finish to make a toolpath, it just turns the OD and completely ignores the contour. If I go point-to-point, it creates huge steps that my groove won't be able to finish. if I do plunge-turn, it'll hit the contour, but it cuts torward the positive on the angles.
I just want it to be one, simple pass. start at beginning of contour>cut angle/radius>cut "flat">cut front angle/radius>done. I don't understand why the rough/finish toolpaths aren't making the cut, and there aren't any settings to my knowledge that'll let me plunge/turn negatively exclusively, in one foul swoop
please excuse my noobiness, I'm still pretty new at this and i'm having to teach myself. thanks
