  1. Here are some photos of a shop I was at in Houston this weekend. They inspect trays with up to a 100 grooving and threading inserts at a time very fast.
  2. I will try and find out something this weekend if I get a chance. I'll be doing some contract work at an insert and tooling manufacture in Houston. They can put a tray of 50 or so thread inserts on it and it has cameras that look at each individual insert to check the different angles and radius in a just a couple of seconds per insert. When it finds something out of tolerance it stops and lights it up the insert on the tray. There were about 20 or so like this in their facility.
  3. Sorry It's been a long time since I was shown or if I was ever shown. I want to rough out using pocket mill but with different size end mills starting with a 1" then .5 all the way down to a .125 diameter. When I chain it and run the 1" and then go to the .5" how do I keep it from re-cutting what the 1" already cut. Do I have to re-chain it again for what is left?
  4. Ok, that looks perfect but how did you do it or was that from Solidworks?
  5. So are you saying do a flat layout with a flat solid then rap the solid around? Or are you saying extrude a flat layout thru the round solid? The second option will not produce the correct geometry thru the solid.
  6. I'm trying to extrude the J-Slot thru the solid but keep getting a planar chain error. This is not for machining, just a visual reference. Can you tell me what I'm doing wrong? Running X7. I did a flat layout to drive the tool and that works fine but I would sure like to have a solid model of it to show the operators what is going on. Visual aides seem to help a lot around here and I can add it to their setup sheet. Thanks H078307203Y.MCX-7
