Ultimately, thats what I want. But for now...
How did you go about mapping the buttons? I guess thats what I should have asked to begin with
I use the space pilot pro. It's an accesory, not a replacement for a mouse. You will still use the mouse way more that you do the space pilot.

Theres a no_spc$ command?!
gaarrrrrrrrrrrrgggggggghhhh!!!
all these years.
-
Spacing can be controlled by space$
Before your post block, put this:
sav_spc = spaces$
spaces$ = 0Then afterwards turn the spaces back on by using this:
spaces$ = sav_spc

Try making your WCS "top" and your C / T planes "right side" then in your rotary axis control, select either "Y" or "C" depending on what you want to use.
Since we don't have your post we can't replicate that error.

Kelly Burns and I worked at the same place at the same time (but not in the same department.) That's why the name stuck out.

Drilling on an STL always makes such a hell of a mesh.

I think two big things (and scouring the internet seems to agree with me) come into play with a Quadro card: first, it's tested in a much more specific environment for a specific end use, so the drivers tend to be much more stable. Second, since most CAD systems spec Quadro as a minimum spec, if you run into problems using a different card they are less likely to be able to offer any kind of support.

Does anyone use these systems to monitor/control barstock and raw material inventory?
-
Both are able to do it. We have WinTool Logistics Module that takes care of all these tasks. We don't have RFID though. But it is supported for sure. But in order to use the Logistics module well, we had to go through a lot of pain to have the necessary discipline. When I comes to your tooling logistics, software can help but the real difference comes from people's attitude towards the golden rules.
What do you mean by "a lot of pain"? Unhappy and unwilling employees? Or learning the way the software works?

Question for guys with small shops and different machines: How do you inventory your machine hardware? For example, we have lathes that use Hardinge draw collets, flex-e-on collets, Royal collets, and J-Loc chuck jaws. These are all pretty machine-specific. So do you guys keep those by the machines, or do you keep them in tool crib as well? Do you inventory them or just let them be?

I've had good luck using Precision / Dormer drills (in aluminum.) Have a few in front of me now that are 1.5mm 80D. Did it exactly like you described, only the fun part was that it was on a 55 degree angled surface

We also use the royal filters on our lathes and swiss machines. They have high pressure so there is a lot of mist to suck up and they do the job well. However, they definitely do better on water-based coolant that oil-based.

Once you start threadmilling npt you probably won't want to go back to tapping.
^^^^^^
Once you have a standard set of tooling, it's easy to do. Program it once, tweak it until it's good, and save those parameters for future use. Save your tools to a specific library for each material type, and then it's pretty much drag and drop for future programs.
There are too many variables when you are using multiple manuf. tap brands, especially if it's not you picking out the tap for the setup.

Yes sir it is. Software is bulletproof, even though the interface looks directly out of Windows 3.x

So WinTool and TDM seem to be the top runners right now. I have a few questions I hope someone can answer:
We're looking to start tracking and organizing the entire production side of a job. We want to know what tools are on what machine, what tools are used for a specific job, where these tools are stored (if they're not on the machine), how many of these tools we have in inventory, how often they are replaced, and have the ability to list out what needs to be replenished.
Is anyone using either of these systems to accomplish the whole spectrum of what I listed? How do you track your tools (barcode, RFID, honor)?

You could, in theory, create a little logic postblock something along the lines of,
if depth$ = 501, then...
and have it add a new prefix. Or modify a custom drilling cycle to do that. However, it wouldn't verify correctly at all.
What I do for my macros is have a separate postblock set up, and turn it on or off using a misc. int. So if I have a threadmill, I set it up like normal in mastercam, and set "Use Threadmill Macro" to one in my misc numbers. This forces the output through the postblock which then strips and reformats everything the way I want it to. That way, my program verifies like normal inside mastercam yet I get the output I want in the NC.
