  1. Hello, everybody, Could any of you please tell me how do I chain the whole contour after the geometry is made? The problem I have is that the geometry is all broken down into fragments and I can't chain the whole contour in one shut. Please advice. Thank you very much.
  2. Hello, Tom, If you are learning from your present workplace then stay awhile before you pakcup. Where I apprentice I don't get a real chance to do the machining besides all the mis. jobs (adding coolants, sorting stocks, cleaning machines, etc). I was constantly told this is the way to get started after 3 years of doing this... Disappointing enough, eh? However, I am taking an additional course and I already see its benefits. So, if you are learning, then stay.
  3. Hello, Jayme, Here is my 2 cents. Hope it helps a bit. (just found out this last week) On the offset page, go to Tool Radius--Wear. If you want to make the pocket .005 smaller enter .005. If you want to make it .005 bigger enter -.005 If you have a radius you must start the cutter comp on a streight line instead of right on the arc. Taht will give you Alarm message on the machine. (also just found out lask week!!)
  4. Thank you. Now I know it is safter to change the Z level on the program than change Lengh Offset on the machine. Thanks!!
  5. Hi, everybody, First of all, Thanks for all your help. it is a big help for me. Thanks again. I use Mori Seikei machine with Fanuc control. Machine is about 15 years old. Question: just yesterday.... bad thing happened... I cleaned one tool then hit "cycle start". However, I noticed the piece was about 1/4" shorter. The subsequent piece was short by that amount. I didn't use the MDI to write the command. However, I make sure the light on the X and Z light up before I Reset the Program. This is dangeous. Can any of you please tell me what went wrong?? Thanks

  13. Hi, everybody, I know this is a wired question to ask... got to ask... I usually home (G28) the lathe before I turn the power off. However, I was told this is uncecessary. I was told it is better to leave the tool a few inches a way from workpiece when one needs to turn off the machine. Is this a good habit?? I thougt G28 the machine is better?? Confused. Please advice. Much thank.
  14. Hi, everybody, Could any of you please tell me what is G50 about?? Also, what is Zero Return?? Is this equal to G28?? Much Thanks.

  20. Hello, Cadcam, Yes, I noticed that person is wrong because when I post with "computer" there is no G41. Question: where on the control do I make the change of .010" wider? Under Offset -- Tool radious -- wear?? Please advice. Thanks much

I use Wear but I was told that was wrong. I was told the correct way is "computer". Please help. Another question: Let's say I pick "Wear Compensation" and I would like to make my pocket .010" wider. 23. Hi, Joels, I have done quite a bit of hand tapping and I noticed if you are tapping stainless material then you can drill a bit bigger and it works just fine. Now I use this approach whenever the proper drill is taken and so far it works well. Just my $.002
