  1. Awesome, that works in X8 as well. Thanks David!
  2. Is there a way to change certain defaults in MasterCAM. Specifically the following two for now: Manual Entry, defaults to "Post as code" radio button checked. Can I change this to default to "Post as comment" checked? Lead in/out: adjust length of contour, defaults to "shorten", would like to change this to default to "lengthen". TIA for any insight.
  3. FWIW, I am not in the habit of asking resellers for anything. Spent the last 12 years using SmartCAM. There were no resellers to ask. Just the users group. Everybody helped each other. Hence I come here first. That's what this community is all about right?
  4. Thanks for this Colin! I had gotten busy and didn't check in here again until late yesterday. And thanks for the break down of the Mill/Turn product. Benz
  5. Not yet as I am not looking for a custom post. Just looking to see which generic post that ships with Mcam would be best to start with. Thought I'd use the knowledge base of the users first.
  6. Can anyone recommend a generic (comes with MasterCAM) post processor for use with a single turret mill/turn lathe that has a subspindle and a Y axis? I need a starting point. Machine is a DMC DL 25SY: http://dmcmachine.com/products/turning-center/classical-horizontal Thanks Benz
  7. Nevermind, seems I need to check the display box for the correct stock. Kinda wish there was some better behind the scenes logic.
  8. Hello all, Let's see if I can explain myself adequatley here. I have a MasterCAM file with three machine groups in it. I have defined stock for each machine group. When I try to verify operations in machine group 2 it seems like it wants to only use the stock from the last machine (3) group on the tree. So, still being quite new at MasterCAM, I am assuming there is something I am doing wrong. What might that be?
  9. It is actually a square form (.08" wide x .08" deep) lubrication groove on a 1" pitch left hand spiral in a bushing. I am using a 2mm wide top notch groover. All I can have is radial depth of cut changes.. Also, according to my manual, P0 is the same as P1. I will try taking the L out to see if that fixes it.
  10. Here is the code we ran: G97 S50 M4; G0 X2.275 Z.2 M8; G76 X2.5395 Z-6.3 K1600 L0 D210 A0 P0 F1.0; Z.2 M9; The Z-6.3 should have been Z-5.3 but we had to cheat it because of the retraction. Thanks for the help!
  11. Hello, we recently purchased a DMC mill turn lathe with a Fanuc Oi Tc/Mc control on it. Yesterday we were attempting to cut a thread (turning) using the G76 cycle. A couple of issues came up. One being that this machine uses a single line G76 cycle vs. double line G76 cycle. Is there a parameter that can be changed to switch this control to make use of the double line cycle? And we also had an issue with the tool retracting (in X) from the thread before it reached the Z end point (about an inch shy) and then continued on to the Z end point before finally retracting from the bore. Any clues as to why it would do this? The code line looked fine. Thanks Benz
  12. That's very helpful. Thank you!
  13. Thanks for the help. So I gather that inserts from a metric library can't be interchanged into an inch library?
  14. Here is the MCX file. It would be the last operation. I appreciate your help. ABEC SH110313.MCX-7
  15. Hello, I have a question concerning the grooving. When I do a groove cycle, chaining the groove, the tool always wants to overcut to the front (Z plus) of the part. So instead of getting a .125" wide groove, I end up with a groove .173" wide. The tool geometry (insert width .079") is correct. What else would cause this to happen? I have attached a screen shot if this helps.
  16. I have a DWG solid model that I have brought in to MasterCAM. It has a bunch of elements that are displayed in the level viewer but that are not visible in the graphics window. Zoom all doesn't show them regardless of the visiblilty settings. Is there any way to change this so I can clean it up? I can work around it but would like to know.
  17. Good morning all, I need to define custom turning tools (internal face grooving) in MasterCAM X7. These are solid carbide tools that do not use inserts. I do not see an option where I can get the graphics from an MCX file as with custom milling tools. Am I missing something? Thanks for any help. Benz
  18. Is there a way to delete unused named views? I looked in the View Manager and help files but don't see anything pertaining to deleting. Very possible I missed it. Thank you.
  19. When re-using a MCX model file for anoth part is there a way to change the toolpath name (from which the .NC file output name is derived)?
  20. Hello everyone, Is there a way to derive the total estimated cycle time for a program from with in Mastercam? Was thinking the back plot/verify tool would give me that but I don't see it. I see time per move but no total. Thanks in advance.
  21. Thanks for the help. Been 17 years since I used Mastercam. Add job change after 17 years. I'm a little flustered by the adjustments. Poor excuse but it's all I got. Thanks again.
  22. It's a repaint issue. Problem is with changing tool paths. Sometimes the rapids don't update unless I force a repaint. What I was hoping to do is set a config so that it automatically repaints after a change so I don't have to manually force it. But alas that may be too logical? FYI it's got a Nvidia Quadro K2000.
  23. Is there an auto-repaint setting in Mastercam? Reason being is I change things and it appears nothing happens. New to Mastercam, I'm a former SmartCAM user not used to hitting so many buttons!
