Victor, Where is your hometown mc9 dealer?
Did you purchase the software from the Texas
dealer or some other source?
The Texas dealer has many support people and
we dont just sell it we support it with full
time support people.
But if you would like free training over the
phone, we dont do that...
Regards,
Jeff White
But we do have class's in our Irving office every
month and in our other offices as well
Bob, I have run into this before and there is an
easy solution. select a taper tool rather than a chamfer tool and just do a regular contour ath the depth you want then, select depth cuts, select tapered walls and enter the angle of the chamfer.
works very good.
I put a sample file on the FTP under MC9 files
BIG-C SMALL-T.MC9 that shows this working
Hope this helps...

Jeff
Well, It looks to me like these functions could be
very useful as long as you were not doing any part off operations.
Think about it, if all your parts were blanked out these features would work just fine, and look good on the screen during the
back plot.
But if your using a bar feeder and you need to cut off I dont see any help from them.
I would love to see a demo file that shows doing
a pick off/transfer using the misc ops. and posts correctly
To this point the post seems to be the best place to accomplish these sort of operations.
Regards
Jeff
The problem with using the misc ops to transfer
to the sub spindle is there is NO provision for
the part off.
What I do for my customers is customize a post
specifically for this, and it actually has other
features as well like if you have upper and lower turrets you may want to do pinch turning and have
wait codes inserted automatically.
I would expect you could have your local dealer or
the post department at CNC quote you a post with
these functions.
Regards
Jeff
Well Chris, Basically you program one part, then you use the misc settings to tell the post you want, lets say 8 parts then you also use a switch to tell it you want 4 of them rotated 180 degrees.
This will trigger the post to output multi part
sub programs one set for the front row and another set for the back row and all the calls
are in place in the main program the way they should be.
This particular post also has provisions for multi pallets if you want to run the second grab on another pallet in the same fashion.
This will have to do until they get the software to do these things correctly and this could take years or weeks depending on how important the developers thing these features are.
Later on down the line if you are interested and
your dealer isnt equipped to handle this let me
know. You know who I work for so getting in touch shouldnt be a problem...
Regards
Jeff
Chris, Im not certain if this is the same thing your talking about, but I had a customer that was running Bi-Lok vises and wanted his post to output
sub programs for all the parts cutting the same side of the part but he wanted the post to rotate
the back part coordinates so he could set his G54
work offsets on the hard jaw.
Simple solution "for me". I made hime a post that
buffered out all the motion then read it back in and added a simple switch to rotated the code for all the back jaw parts so what he ended up with was two sub programs one for the front part and one for the back part that had the code rotated 180 degrees.
I would contact my Dealer and inquire about this.
I think a dealer should have the resources to create or modify an existing post toa accomodate this feature. Im sure they wont do it for free as I didnt for my customer, but it works like a charm.
I also made the post support most all the machines they had since they really only wanted one post for all there equipment.
It is do-able. and its not that hard to do...
I agree the Transform that came out in what 7.1
has really not worked well for multiple part sub
ever and here we are on V9.2SP2 I dont understand why, but if the software wont do what we want we just make the post do it. It seems to be quicker and easier that the alternative. Everybody is happy...
Regards
Jeff
Hell, I dont think ya need a post class for
the twin turret/sub spindle deal. You just need
the post processor and the instructions.
It's actually very simple, once you have the post its all just a matter of programming the part.
And I should clarify this particular post and what it does. The c axis on this machine is only on the main spindle so there wouldnt be anything
done on the sub except second operaqtion stuff like, faceing, turning, threading drilling and or tapping or what ever, so its not that bad.
I havent had anyone in our area that I can think of that needed one with Y and C axis for both upper and lower turrets, but it sounds like a challenge and for the most part the post is already done just need to turn on the "Y" add
whatever output the control needs and wait code
logic.
Jimmy, Thanks for asking about the post class,
I enjoyed talking with you the other day. I have one scheduled in Austin next week for our office employees, I will have a better feel after that.
By the way I guess I wont be coming to NC on that bike trip this month, everybody wants to go to Colorado, and, you know, Im easy plus I missed out on some of last years trip due to snow and sleet.
"quote
stop pussyfooting around and come out and say something that isn't ambiguous; I don't like to play bullsh!t mind games."
Please,When you get a chance, go back and re-read the post I made and try to understand, there is no subliminal massage targeting you or anyone else.
Regards
Jeff
Not for nothing. But I did a post for a
Mori Zl-15SM Twin turret/twin spindle
w/ caxis and automatic wait code insertion
"No hand editing".
I didnt find it all that difficult.
And it was from MPLFAN, It helps to
know something about posts...
