  1. We use Gewefa shrink fit holders for all our high speed/high load machining, so far with no major problems ( one cutter 'pulled' out of a holder but I put that down to poor toolsetting - holder and tool shank HAVE to be clean and free from oil to ensure a perfect fit ). The cost of holders is cheaper than many other tool holding systems enabling us to 'one time set' all our tools rather than keep setting up and breaking down tools for different jobs. Chatter can sometimes be encountered due to the increased rigidity of the tool assembly, but I just drop the rpm a touch to increase the tooth load ( different tool assemblies seem to have different vibration frequencies ? ).
  2. Thanks for the file, I'll give it a go.
  3. Does anyone have a working copy of the Fanuc 10m post processor for Mill ver7.0 ? It won't install for some reason.
  4. Tapping feed = Spindle speed x Thread Pitch i.e, To cut an M12 x 1.75 thread at 600 rpm the feed would equate to: 600 x 1.75 = 1050 mm/min Use your tap manufacturers cutting data for the correct peripheral speeds to use for the material being cut. From my experience of tapping start at the lower end of the range given and work up from there until satisfactory results for thread size, finish and tap life are achieved.
