  1. Been using Mastercam since v3.21 and was doing 3d surface machining way before then, so I've made a few chips in my day, including the one on my shoulder. ------------------ The Ghost In The Machine
  2. quote: Looking for information on post editing besides the Mastercam user guide. If anyone knows of any books or web pages, it would be greatly appreciated. Get a hold of your Mastercam Dealer and ask about the post manual for v7. I don't believe there is one for v8, but the posts have not changed much, if at all. A couple of years ago they cost $75, so you may be able to pick one up cheaper than that. ------------------ The Ghost In The Machine
  3. quote: Version 8 Lathe is so different from the previous releases that it most definitely warrants a book. My students are asking about it almost daily. They're not happy. What's wrong with the ONLINE DOCUMENTATION?! That's very interesting, James. On the Usenet newsgroup, "alt.machines.cnc", you've claimed repeatedly that online help is far superior to printed manuals, and here on this forum you are stating otherwise. Pretty sneaky in my opinion, and I noticed you did not join the current discussion on "Physical Manuals or Online Help Files" on the newsgroup. -- from alt.machines.cnc -- quote: Now Gary, stop exaggerating. You do get manuals. Just not the traditional type. I'm finding the online help far more helpful that the manuals. Plus I don't have to hunt through the book to try to figure out what they call what you're trying to do. If you buy Mill, you get a Mill Tutorial, if you buy lathe, you get a Lathe Tutorial, If you buy Solids you set a Solids Tutorial etc... James Meyette It's a total shame that CNC Software, and most other Cad-Cam developers too, are not offering much in the way of printed materials anymore. The reasons are understandable from the developers point of view, e.g. it's expensive to do, but is the savings being passed on to the customers? Absolutly NOT. They either have to print their own from the (poorly written) online docs, or rely on third parties they may be able to purchase them from. So which is it, James? Are we better off with printed manuals, or with online documention? Inquiring minds do want to know!
