  1. I have an alarm that I cannot clear. Mazak Matrix Nexus VMC. Alarm 209 Slideway oil malfunction. Cannot figure out how to clear it. Way lube oil is full. Grease reservoir is full. I think I need to purge the grease but I do not know how to make that happen. Thanks everyone.
  2. I was. No point in lying about something they will inevitably find out. That's what set me on this journey to find training. They are willing to foot the bill. They want me to fond what I think would be the most beneficial option and send them the bill. I have taken Mastercam in college, but it was a couple years ago. I was planning on taking all 3 of the milling courses offered starting with the beginner as a refresher then working up from there.
  3. Good morning fellow emastercam-ers, I had a quick-ish question for you all. Has anyone here taken the ecourses offered thru this site? I am considering taking them but I wanted to ask here if anyone found any real value in them after having taken them. I just started a new job as a CNC Programmer and my mastercam is not up to snuff. I have used mastercam before in the shop, but it has always been for pretty simple 2D milling. Once or twice using positional 4th axis. Nothing too complicated. The new company I work for does primarily 3D Surface milling for 5-Axis and 4-Axis machines. Would I benefit from taking all of the milling ecourses or would my time and money be better spent elsewhere? If so, where is elsewhere? Thanks everyone and Happy Friday!
  4. I used to do replace all and use a wildcard expression [F]\d\d\d[.] to replace my feedrates in a mastercam post. I cannot remember the exact expression that I used. Does anyone know what i am talking about?
  5. I am going to run a new job in my lathe and come to find out that the ATP is not functioning properly. When I drop the probe arm to touch off my tools it falls too far and all of my tools shoot clear over the probe. I have lifted the arm by hand and can feel that there is a location where it feels as though the arm is supposed to stop and rest in but it falls past that spot. Has anyone had this problem before and if so what was the solution? I am trying to avoid having to call a service tech. I could touch my tools off manually, but I get mad when things I pay for don't function properly. Thanks guys. Any help is appreciated.
  6. It is such a pain in the xxxx. Especially when boss man is riding you and you have to explain that you have to cut scrap for 5 hours before you can get a good part.
  7. Hey all, Probably another stupid question from my corner, but you guys are always helpful and friendly so I keep finding myself coming back here, anywho... I run a Haas ST-10 lathe. We run a spindle warm up program every morning (the one from has), but I don't start getting good, in spec, parts for hours after I start running the lathe. Every part needs some adjustment to some offset. I need something that will warm up the ways as well. Does any one have a program that will get the turret moving in the X and Z and have the spindle running low at first then ramping up to high speed? I am not good with programming the ST-10 by hand or I would just write a program myself. I use the IPS to do all of my programming on that machine. Thanks in advance for the feed back guys.
  8. I am relatively new to all this a little more info would be greatly appreciated.
  9. So I have never had to do this before in my career as a machinist. I have a part that needs a radius milled into the back side of it that runs the entire length of the part. The radius that needs to be machined is .475". I have a 1/2" Ball end mill in my machine, ready to start cutting, but I have no idea where to even begin. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.
  10. So, I got the issue resolved. I had to turn every bit of available hard drive space I had on my computer to virtual ram and try changing my post processor. It is really, really bizzare to me that after a year and a half of doing this, I had to change my processor to get this one program to post. Weird. Thanks everyone for the input. Sincerely appreciate it.
  11. I am working on posting with another post processor. The freeze occurs while the green progress bar is up.
  12. Rotary diameter is set to the diameter of my part, 0.86". That is the same diameter we always use for this type of engraving and it always works out fine.
  13. I am using the pocket tool path. Not the engraving tool path. I am using Y axis sub.
  14. Sorry. I am in Mastercam X5. Trying to post code for a Haas VF2. I'm not sure what you mean by what toolpath I am trying to use. I am trying to create a pocket. I cannot, unfortunately, post the file for you guys to look at. It is all proprietary.
  15. Hey there, everyone. I am having some issues with Mastercam at work. I am working on engraving a cylindrical part. I drew my art work in Adobe Illustrator and imported it into Mastercam, positioned everything where I needed it to be, and created my toolpaths from the imported geometry. The first op of the program is to mill a .003 deep pocket in the negative space around the engraving art. My boss has asked me to use a small center drill and use the web of the tool for this step (we kept breaking small flat endmills trying to accomplish this operation so we switched to the centerdrill for more rigidity). I was able to pull this off on a larger part successfully. I am in the process of creating the same art work on a smaller cylinder. When I create my toolpaths from the geometry and try to post the first op pocket mastercam freezes. My boss is on my xxxx to get this figured out and get the code posted. We have orders for this product waiting to be filled. I have no idea what to do. I have been trying for a few days to get it to post. This morning I came in and tried to post it again, the program has been unresponsive for hours. I am going to keep letting it go until I hear a better suggestion from someone else. If anything I have going on is unclear or confusing I am sorry. Please message me here for further clarification. Thanks in advance guys. I know how helpful everyone here tries to be.
  16. This is the file that I am working with. NESTED CYMBAL STAND.MCX-5
  17. Howdy, I had a quick question for the forum. I apologize if this isn't in the right place. I am currently working on a really simple part at work. Each part has 2 thru-holes drilled in it and then the outline is contoured. I am trying to get my cutter comp in the control. When I set my cutter comp to the control in parameters and verify my operations all of the parts are gouged. I have tried playing with my lead in and lead out values but I am still getting a few parts that are gouging. Any one have any tips for me? I can post screen shots if someone needs to see what I am working with. Thanks in advance.
  18. I have tried the delete duplicates and find overlap functions. Neither one worked for me. I moved on to the next suggestion of loosening the chaining tolerances. I was able to find that and it allowed me to select my chain with no problem, but when I go to creat the pocket tool path it is still throwing me an open pocket error. I appreciate the input from you guys, but anything else I can try?
  19. Howdy all, I am new to the forum so please forgive me if I am posting in the wrong area or anything like that. I am working on a project at work and I have run into a bit of an issue. I do a lot of engraving on cylindrical tubes. Really detailed art engravings. I am trying to create a pocket in mastercam to make my engraving stand out against the rest of the tube. I did my art work for the piece in Illustrator and imported it into mastercam X5 as a .dxf file. When I begin to chain my pocket I end up with a bunch of broken chains. Zooming in really close does show that the lines just barely don't touch. When I try to draw a line to connect the two end points I get a zero line length error. I have no idea what to do here. I need to be able to chain the solid outline of my engraving pattern to make the pocket around it. Please help, thanks guys.
