Much of the work I do is the same. The project I am working on has 1,000's of similar parts. We are supplied with a 2d gemotry file and are required to build 3d models to machine from. In the process of manipulating files, I end up with approx 10 layers per part. Using a standard color scheme (1 color per layer) makes life easier to know what you are looking at down the road when I am applying toolpaths. I am currently using the "SET" field to designate colors. I have the levels saved and each new part uses the same levels & colors
I have created level name sets, which you can save (right click menu). I have groupings based on 1-9, 10-19, 20-29, etc. I use the same names in each set. This way, when I merge files, they come in without over writing existing levels. You do have to keep track of which file used which set, but that's what sticky notes are for...
But a re-number utility would definetly be way kool !
Is there a way to change a default value for something like the "Offset" command? I would like to have it default to .040" instead of 1.0"
Any ideas?
Thanx - JM
I am programming a part that has 82 operations. It's the same basic 6 ops that are repeated on various part geometies. I saved and exported the operations and have been importing them over and over again. I noticed that after a while, some of the operations folders turn from yellow to gray. When I re-gen, they all go back to yellow, but as I add operations they go back to gray. Everything posts fine...
What does this mean?

Thanks for your suggestion. Unfortunately, we can't do it using your method. These parts are for a customer in the defense industry. The quality program only allows us to run proven program parts... meaning we can't change the nc code for a part unless there is a rev change, and then the parts have to undergo a new FAI. It's a royal pain...
RE: the Thermwood... it's not what I would have speced... but that's I've to work with... Fortunately we have +.080"/-.000" tolerance on the OD geometry. But we are holding +/-.001 on taper thickness !!!
