  1. jford, can you just keep all the labs updated with the current release version of MC?

Would this solve the different department file issue

"If it is a stundent version problem then why don't they have "student" file extension?"

I think that is the whole point of the new file format.

  2. Hans, I think they are trying to keep students from purchasing a student copy and in turn using it at a company(along with other people at the company)to make code for industrial parts. As far as you local dealer keeping you serviced, there are other schools that are in the same boat.I think CNC software is so busy, it is trying to keep pace with the service end as well as keeping the product ahead of the curve.

If you want to switch packages,I would check to see what is pre-domiant in your area.I like the fact that you can even get a working key that allows to save and even tool path models.I believe they are working on a solution right now to this issue to let certain educational keys have a right away, but student keys have a different format.

I have had really good luck with the company as a whole(CNC Software).

  3. I ran a advance class today, created a High speed path area clearance with a containment boundary.Copy the toolpath, changed the parameters to a restmill.Regen, ok.

Did not like what I saw so I sketch a new rectangle over where I want the new boundary, open up the parameters of the copied high speed path, tried to re-chain the containment boundary and it disappears???(the newly created boundary)

I tried this two or three times.

Closing the parameters, hit the undo and redo my new containment boundary re-appears??

I delete the toolpath, create and new boundary, start the toolpath all over again, then I have no problem.

It would not let me re-assign a new boundary while the old toolpath was still intact??

  4. If you are wanting to apply toolpaths the geometry after you project it, you can use the "Surface","Finish" "Project" tool path, use the "curves" option and window in the text in the planner state, then project it to a surface all in one step. You skip the step of projecting curves on the surface first.

    Hope that helps
