  1. CadCame translator is a good option if you don't do a lot of translation. I'm not sure but I thought I read it was expensive per translation. The pro-e translator is expensive at $1995 but we use it almost everyday and it works pretty well. The fact that you can import a true solid has made a big difference.I'm not sure if STEP handles solids but even step is a $1500 option... you need to weigh how much your going to use it. If your gonna be translating every day then you should invest in the translator...

  2. The way I do keyway cutters is like this ..I do not use depth but I do use multi pass then I copy that operation and change the depth on the copy. If you try to use depth it will just divide up your passes equally and the 1st pass will be the first equal depth cut.hope this makes sense.

  3. I work in a model shop and the company I work for is trying to come up with a title to add the Cad/Cam part of my job in with the machining. What titles do you guy's have that will encompas model shop machining with cad design and cam ...

  4. There is a freeware program called Wintopo that can convert to vector. You can find it at www.download.com the only thing is it will only convert from bmp ..if you want to do gif's jpg you need to buy the full ver. you can alway's get freeware to convert from gif to bmp. I was asked by the company recently to engrave a gif and it worked great.

  5. I am trying to post some very large programs with 6 operations at once ...but as it converts to the post it is breaking them up into smaller programs about 65,000 lines long instead of 1 long program...when I used Ver 7 this was never an issue ..Help .....
