  1. I believe i remember a Verisurf tool add on that would put a heat map on your model so you could see your min radii. Is this still available. Hello Ron!
  2. Yes I noticed that ball/flat makes a difference, the problem is this used to work fine in X2. Wish I had a copy of X2 installed I would be done by now.
  3. @ Dave S, I see once again that the student has surpassed the teacher. It took me a second to recognize who you were. I don't do enough 5-ax anymore to be great at it. Maybe I should come take a class from you. AS far as my typing/grammar goes I guess it is just the way my brain works. I hope you and your family are doing well and I hope your business is good. I personally have taken on way more stuff than I can get done, so I am working nights, holidays, and weekends. I need to learn to say no. The path shown in this screenshot is a classic multi-surface, locked to 4axis with rotation about y. Z axis limits are set to min30 and max 60. when the surface normals actually are 30 and 60 the tool gap greatly increases. take away the axis limits and it looks good. This also shows in verify. Since I only program on rare occasion anymore I haven't learned the new multiaxis toolpaths.
  4. X4 MU3 & X5 MU1. I am trying to rough out a plug for a car fender mold. I am using modify motion when tool hits the limit. What in the name all that is right is causing the tool to double? the stepover amount where the tool hits the limit? This happens in both versions listed. I haven't done a ton of 5-AX programming in a while, but I'm not a novice at it either. I am a big fan of Mastercam and have been for a long time (V6), but I'm also getting pretty tired of trying to teach folks the software and having to explain "well that is the way it used to work, but it looks like it is broke now".
  5. Has anyone developed a post for the Omax A-Jet (5-axis) series machines? Not looking for a freebie here just looking to see what is out there.
  6. I'm having trouble figuring out the best approach to multiax surfacing of this shape (undercut). I need the tool to flow around this boss keeping the b axis at about 15 or 20 degrees and to avoid all the surfaces around it. I haven't played with the advanced multiaxis paths much but looks like morph between curves on a surface might be a good option. Advice needed.
  7. I dont believe mu1 production has been released yet?
  8. ok this is getting annoying. Files that should be 250k are coming out 10mb. Is the filter going to be in X5 mr1? Im not using X5 because the filter is missing but a lot of my customers are and it is causing me headaches. Verify times through the roof and long load times on the machines as well as memory and line number issues.
  9. path is fishtailing or bowtied I tried relative to dir, finaly just used the old swarf with sync by branch. Looking forward to MU1 to see if some of my issues get solved.
  10. Thanks Trevor, I got it using Swarf and sync by branch. Can't send out the file, it's Military Aerospace stuff. I haven't done anything but work for the past year and a half. I even missed deer season this year. But somebody has to feed the wife and kids. Glad to hear you all are doing well.
  11. Hey Trevor, It's been a while since Iv'e talked with you. I hope you and your family are well. I have always struggled with swarf, tool wants to lead or lag or wiggle around too much. The most success I've had is to sync chains by branch. I'll give it a shot and thanks for the reply.
  12. In the past I have been able to stop this from happening using a variation of look ahead and curve following options. Anyone got a clue how to get rid of this? I fillet the corners but then got mouse ears on both sides.
  13. I have both router and mill pro. Currently using mill. I installed from the DVD. I'm not an every day user anymore, so it takes a while for me to get up to speed. This is my 1st attempt at multiax in X5. My customer does not have the filter either. He has mill pro. Im getting some pretty stupid stuff going on with several areas. Axis limits doesn't seem to work with 4-axis button either.
  14. I tried Control Panel App and changed settings, no change. I also can not get my toolpaths to generate correctly. I may have a bum install. Guess I will train this customer in X4. Im having to many problems in X5 and I need to move along.
  15. X5 - Curve 5-axis Where did it go and why?
  16. Thanks Guys, Ive got a terrible demo right now on 3" thick extruded 5000 series aluminum. Some of the ribs are just flopping in the wind with no rigidity. And of course it has got to be done fast. Why do they give me these crazy parts?
  17. OK, Ive cut a lot of materials including some aluminum over the last 20 years on cnc equipment but have yet to wrap my head around SFM. Ive been cutting aluminum with a solid carbide 1/2" end mill that says 1200 SFM but Im cutting good at 15k rpm, .15 doc, and 200 ipm which is 1960 sfm. When does the sfm really matter? Is it when your 1*D in depth?
  18. Hey gcode, thanks. I had my tool plane all screwed up and it was giving me the ramp option. I couldn't believe mill didn't have ramp. I have used router too long. LOL
  19. Never mind, dang it is a Monday morning.
  20. Is this not available in Mill? Running X4 MU3
  21. I have used in only with lollipop cutters, and that was the only thing that would work. Draw the geometry, run center of the geometry and comp to center of tool.
