Here's my add-in list in SW
Any ideas why Mcam Direct isn't showing up ??
-
No , I didn't purchase it. To activate it in SW , there's supposed to be a check box for it in Tools/Add-ins.....

Mcam X4 MU3
SW 2010 SP2.0 (32bit)
Downloaded and installed Mcam direct from the Mastercam website. When I open a part in SW , go to Tools / Add-Ins , there's no Mastercam Direct check box.
Any thoughts on what I'm doing wrong and how to fix ??
TIA

Thanks guys ! That is much easier
Jason, unfortunately SW only utilizes "layers" or levels with drawings , not parts or assemblies. So when I open the .iges file in SW , all there is , is 1 2D sketch and 1 3D sketch.
Thanks again fellers !

I have a Mcam (X3) wireframe of a mold , no surfaces or solids. Each individual part of the mold is on it's own layer and there are about 20.
What I want to do is isolate each part , save it as an .iges file so I can import it into Solidworks , then create the models , mold assembly , and drawing.
Here's what I did to get it to work........
1. Turn on only the layer of the part I wanted
2. File-Save Some
3. Window select the wireframe of the part
4. Save as .mcx
4. Open that new mcam part file in mcam
5. File-Save As .iges
6. Open in SW
So my question is, Is there an easier/better way to do this? This mold wasn't to bad cuz there was only 20 parts to it. But we have many more molds with alot more parts that I need to go thru this.
Any ideas or suggestions is as always appreciated.

Sorry forgot to mention that. I'm still running SW 08'

Hi All !
Whenever I try to use this add-in Mcam encounters a problem and shuts down. I get a "Fatal Application Exit" message that says " Unhandled Exception occured-Mastercam execution halted"
Any ideas how to fix it? I've ran the repair on both X3 and the Direct for Solidworks. I'm guessing it's just a bad install somehow or registry problem ???
TIA

If you're allready comfy with it , why take the class ? IMO , you'd be better of asking specific questions here than sitting through an entire class that might be just a review.

Nah , Just get a hold of this guy.

Me neither. Would be nice though.

When we bought our VF-OE back in 2002 , we got a free trip to tour the Haas facility. Impressive doesn't seem to describe it well enough. Anyway , that night Gene took us all out to dinner and a drink or 12 . Super nice guy !!

Isn't it M19 P15. ??

Do a "repair" install for Solidworks if ya haven't allready , re-boot , and try again. If I remember correctly , that's what I did when I had that problem.
-
Look closely at the solidworks file extention. Is it ".sldprt " or does it read something like ".sld " ?
Just a thought.
note to self : read ENTIRE post BEFORE replying. Sorry !

Switch over to X and don't look back. I don't miss V9 at all.

Hey CDL2042 , Where in Minnesota are ya , ya know dare ?

Thanks Bruce !! Great advice. I'll be attempting to cut the parts Monday morning. I'll post the results when I'm done.

Anyone have any experience milling this stuff ? I guessing max rpm/feed with good quality endmills.
TIA

What's your chaining tollerance set at ?
Is it really a closed contour ? Zoom way in on the intersections and see if there are gaps.
-
2d countour , make sure the C-plane is selected , then try.
Or
Use "Partial chaining method. Selcet to first(start branch) then the end branch.
-
How are you selecting your contours ?
-
Tell us about the part. Is it a surface or solid model ? What do the "Screen Statistics" tell ya ?
Alt S ?
-
Works fine here. What's not working for ya ?

Just out of curiosity , if you switch your Analyze tolerance to N.123 will it say 18' ?
