I drove MA Ford into wurk today but there wurnt any reamers in it.
o.k , that was cheesy but someone had to say it.

I hear MA Ford might have them too....
Yeah I'm bored

Robb-Jack has a speed and feed program that I use alot. It has worked out great for me so far. And I typically don't use their brand of cutters. There's a calc for end mills(carbide only) , slitting saws , and die-mold endmills for hardmilling.
Enjoy !!

Is the program from an older version of Mcam ?

Can you use Surface-Finish-Paralell ???

Not yet

Is there a find and replace function in your control??? ex. find F100 / replace with F100.
That might speed things up for ya. Just a tought.

quote:do you think it is possible to be a good mastercam cnc programer with no cnc experience?
I think they can become good programers if they are given the chance to learn both at the same time. That's how I learned. Do they have any machining experience?
But I agree with Bruce , if they don't get to learn how to run the machines then expect poor results for awhile.

Not quite sure I understand your question , but I believe you have to have a decimal in the feed rate callout... ex. F100. , whether you use G94 or not.

Check this out. Visual Jobshop
Here are some more to check out also. Shop Management
You can get a demo version of most of them I believe. Hope this helps a little. Happy shopping.

Push the MDI button twice on the control. Then send the program. Cycle start when ready. Me thinks that's all you need to do.
Welcome aboard

Hasn't happend here yet. Anyone else??

quote:they only cost about $6.00 out of msc to atelast get the part made
I agree with Ron here. If your professor won't step up and buy you a smaller cutter , take the hit yourself this once, just to get the part done. Good Luck !!

quote:I do not think I can use Pocket/Remachining because I am working with surfaces.
Hows about finish / leftover ???
As far as I know (not much ) anytime you use a surface / rough toolpath you will typically have alot of retratcs cuz of the max stepdown setting. Gap settings and optimizing may reduce it some but after the tool finishes the path at the max stepdown depth it retratcs to whatever you have the retract plane set at.(?)

Try pocket/remachining instead of Rough/Restmill if you can?

quote:Gibbs is easy to learn.
I have to respectfully disagree with Rekd on dis one.
About 4 years ago my company decided to buy a CNC and CAM package. Since nobody had any experience with CAM , I got a demo of Gibbs , Mcam , and Surfcam. I found Mastercam MUCH easier to learn. I spent a week tinkering on each demo without any training and was able to do much more with Mastercam. It just made more sense to me. It's almost conversational , create/line , create/arc , create/point , toolpath/pocket , toolpath/contour , etc.
Not to mention the support available is ,in my opinion far superior. There are many reasons that there are more Mcam seats around the world than any other system and I think the ease of learning is one of the biggest.
Just my opinion.

Sorry, no scorpions. How'd the flag project turn out?
-
I get that when I have a large Mcam file open and Solidworks open at the same time somtimes. I've seen a few threads about this on da forum and there seems to be a number of variable. Video Card , Mcam allocations , etc.
