We have a Horizontal Matsuura MC450h and would like to Drip feed to because of memory issues. It has a Yasnac I80 controller on it and wondring if anyone has done this with no problems.
What are the steps to get the machine ready for this.
Thanks
Bill
Just got of the phone with the customer and they will allow a 1.5 c'bore leaving roughly 3 3.8 worth for thread.
Helps out a litle but still a lot of thread
We are looking at a part that requires a 5/8-11 thread thru 4 7/8 thick A-36 Material. I have done some thread milling but not that thick. I was wondering if anyone has done something( with luck) like this that thick with thread milling.
And what manufacture has that length.
I dont think with a a tap and horse power we will not be able to do this.
Any suggestions.
Thanks
I have a part that has many multi-level pockets. I need to flip this part over and machine a bunch of pockets. I want to capture(make a fixture with bosses)features from the first side(pockets). Is there a feature or an eay way of doing this.
Thanks
I finally started using X. We have had since it release and been to busy to change over. Programmed my fisrt part and like the outcome.
I know it maybe a broad topic but like to start a Tips and Tricks Topic on what they have figured different from V9 that may not cover in manuals or through training. Any bit of info helps.
Thanks

Follow up on Crankshaft.... This is 48"(we dont have a lathe that can do that) long. Our customer believes we can do it all on the 4th axis. The end will be done on the lathe and the rest on the 4th...So still looking for more suggestions or ways to tell this guy he needsto farm it out to an actual shop that have the equipment to do this.
They are not equally spaced. The hole pattern looks loke a Christmas tree effect.
OOOOO

Like that but with 554 holes
I have a part thats 584 Holes,in which I need to interpolate to size. I do I make Mastercam go to the location of the holes and pick-up one sub program(being incremetal) to interpolate to size.
Thanks

We do alot of parts that always require mirror image. So of these are complicated. So ususally we get the orginal part right and then mirror image the program.
Using tranform, Mirror image on Y axis does well. But what we have to to is reverse the chain, make cutter comp right in order everything to cut the same being climb cutting.
Drill cycle are fine.
With this take a long time if there is alot of steps.
Just wondering what some people do or is there a better way of doing mirror image parts.
Thanks

A have a surface model of a part and want to be able to extract the outside boundary. I want to be able to mill the outside boundary(contour). What is the best way to extract the geometry for this.
Thanks

I have found this to be a little easier than what I thought. I shot out my fisrt horizontal program this morning and the guy just gave me the 1st pc. Thanks for everyones help. I been getting the post to output to our likings. I got it to post B for rotations. The only thing the machine does not take a -B index. I have to index to 270 and when it post it makes it -B90.
Is there a way to change this.
Thanks again for everyones input.
I would like to start a topic on
General Tips & Tricks for programming in Mastercam *******V9 ONLY*******
I while back I started a 3d one and that had great results.
Thanks
Bill
