  1. Well we got the machines in... I have a manual now. Looks pretty similar to what I have except the M21/22 codes "CT Coolant" on machine = "Rotate Table" in post. So here comes the trial and error part. Sometimes I wish I didn't know so much. Wouldn't life be easier to just play dumb and let someone else do all the hard stuff? LOL

  2. My company is expecting delivery of 2 Fanuc Robodrills literally any second now. In anticipation of getting them, I was going to try and start editing a post processor and creating a machine and Control def for it. Does anyone know where I can find the actual G-code and/or operating manual online to help me get started? If not I guess I will just wait til it gets here and pull out the manual. It would be nice to have it in electronic format though so that I could access it anytime without haveing to go get the book.

    Thanks,

    Robert

Yeah, and what makes you think you're qualified for this job?

LOL... with the experience of some of the NTMA mastercam instructors i have seen lately I was almost embarrassed to mention it as a qualification.

    Robert,

You teaching in Ontario??? When did you start?

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I started in Ontario Mar 2004. A little bit after you left I think. Prior to that I was instructing at Costa Mesa since December of 2001

  4. Running 8 fadals here... and we have that error from time to time... the issue has been one of two things...

    1) luckily most of the time it was just the Resolver for the axis that was faulting out. About a $500 part

    2) one time however though, it was the inverter which was about a $3000 repair.

  5. Tomski,

I renumber often as well. Although not a perfect fix, what I do often is when I initially call up the tool I right click and edit tool. On the parameters tab if you change the feed rates there on the tool, then the feedrates will always stay the same even if you renumber. Of course, if you are changing feeds from operation to operation then you will lose any feedrates that are different than what you edited the tool to be.

This works great for when you are using a tool only for roughing or finishing and want the feed to be the same for every operation.

    Hope that helps

Programmer, Instructor and Beta tester...where do I find the time?

  6. when you post... in the dialog box there is a radio button you can check next to communicate. If you do the communications box becomes active and it will allow you to send the file right after you post it. If you want to send a file that was already posted i believe that they moved all communications to the new mastercam editor.

    Does that help?

  7. Yeah, it appears that mpdypth.pst comes with Mastercam and it is made for Dynapath. Like I said version 7 included one, it ran in generic form with no edits needed. Hopefully this version will work for you the same. Good luck! Let me know if you have any other questions but be forewarned...

I haven't even had power to our Tree/Dynapath in about 4 years now so I am not sure how much I will remember. HA HA

  8. wow, let melook, we used to run a dyna path but i was running mastercam version 7 at the time. I will look and see if I have anything current.

  9. what you need to do is select the toolpaths you want to verify, click the verify button on the operations manager, select the configuration button which is to the far left and click the radio button in front of "file" under stock shape. When you hit ok it should load your part as stock and you can then verify your toolpaths on the stl file.

  10. On a Fadal tangent and perpendicular will both work. The trick is making sure that the control can calculate the move. If you are using "control" compensation in Mastercam then the fadal will need to move more than 50% of the cutter diameter and that goes for perpendicular geometry in a chain as well. This rule doesn't apply in wear compensation because since the cutter is offset in mastercam the control does not make a computation resulting in a negative number. It is the same thing when dealing with corner radii. The tool radius has to be less than the corner radius.

    I got off track...

If you want to use perpendicular entry with control compensation set the line length to a value greater than the cutter radius (for example... line length should be .251 or greater for 1/2" EM)

If you can use parallel you can make the value as low as .0001" and it will work.

In any case most Mastercam posts turn comp on at the first feed move whether it be a G1, G2, OR G3 so you may want to get into the habit of using a line and an arc even if the line is only .010"

  11. yeah i think ROBK is right, I have never had luck with doing more than one pass at the same time. Unfortunately it is one by one but that would be a great enhancement if the powers that be are listening!
