  1. MT? Mill Turn? Do you mean in Mastercam?
  2. Thank everyone for the input. I am very familiar with the difference between G-code and NCI simulation. I completely understand the benefits of having a separate system to verify and we could go even further to say, that it is silly to trust a reverse post processor to emulate a post processor because we double the possibility for error, especially if what is set up on the machine is not how the machine is setup in the software! Ultimately, although I have seen machine sim included with mastercam for some time now, it has always been for NCI verification. I was not aware that it was even capable of NC code verification until recently. We are not against spending the money for the right tool, but I am just trying to understand how what the Dealer is offering is different than these other options. Does anyone actually have experience on the Machine Sim version that does not verify NCI code and has paid for the ability to verify/emulate NC code?
  3. John, Currently Haas UMC750, Thermwood C67. Very soon we will be adding a multitasking lathe including live tooling, dual spindles and Y axis and what we add after that is unknown at this point.
  4. In talks with NCSimul, Vericut, Predator and Camplete for NC Verification. Just about ready to make a decision and pull the trigger but I just got off the phone with my Mastercam dealer and was told that Machine Sim CAN do G-code/NC file verification. Cost is much lower than any of the 3rd party softwares. Does anyone use this or have experience with it? Can anyone share how it compares to any of the 3rd party softwares mentioned. Is it reliable? Will I miss something if I go that route? Any insight would be greatly appreciated.
  5. Hey Jay! Long time no talk! Hiding every chance I get! Working at HERA Technologies in Ontario for the current stint.
  6. Thanks! Is the CNC Cystem One a product from Camplete? And I did read that post thread prior to posting this one as I had cound it when searching for the Haas UMC 750. Just hoping for more specifics for each of the given posts.
  7. I was looking at Camplete based on some past posts I had read on here. Sent an inquiry form via their website yesterday but hadn't heard back yet. I wasn't 100% sure that they actually offer the post or just the verification.
  8. I am sure we will need to do tuning! That is good to know, service means a lot these days when they lock us out and we can not make the post changes our selves.
  9. Hi All, Awaiting Delivery of our Haas UMC-750 and speaking to our Local Mastercam Rep, I was told that there are 3 different posts that they sell for this machine. They asked if I wanted the CNC Software version, the In-House version or the Postology version. Can those who are currently using these weigh in and share any specifics you like , love or hate about any of the 3 as well as any known limitations, bugs or special features? I would love to know your experience with them before making a decision. If by some strange circumstance, one of you happens to own all 3 of them concurrently and can objectively compare them to each other (I know I am dreaming), I will buy us a pitcher of beer for the opportunity to pick your brain!
  10. Perfect! thank you Roger.
  11. Hi All, Well... after a 5 year Hiatus, I am back in the manufacturing world! When I left, I was using X6 and coming back I am using 2018. Took me about a half a day to figure out where everything has moved to and it's going well but I do have one thing I have not found yet... Where is Tool vector Depth on the new Swarf Milling toolpath? I programmed these parts, but wanted to wait on running them until I could go a little past the part edge to run them. I spent some time reading old posts and now see that we have 2 Swarf toolpaths. The Swarf Application has vector depth in the axis control page but Swarf Milling does not. Are they calling it something else? Is it controlled by something else? Any help would be greatly appreciated. I realize I could go back and just re-do those toolpaths with the other swarf toolpath but thought I would ask to see if the new one has that same control built in?
  12. Sorry I wasn't able to answer it for you when you were having the problem Greg!
  13. Since this post is 7 months old, I am hoping/assuming that Greg got it figured out, but for anyone searching in the future, I thought I would share what we found at my company. My current role is to support, troubleshoot and train our 70+ Mastercam users. I have seen this issue more than once and what we found to be the cause in several instances was due to a corrupt windows User profile. We are not 100% sure, but we believe when a user has multiple instances of Mastercam open when a crash occurs that it does something to their Windows User profile. If you delete your user profile, it fixed the issue. The user will have to re-arrange his desktop icons, but that has really been the only drawback thus far of doing so. After we delete the user profile Mastercam will actually launch. Hope this helps.
  14. Hey Aaron, We are looking to setup the config file for the users as well. Have you been able to determine where the User config file come from? We thought if we could change the defaults at the source, that there would be no need to configure each user later. Robert
  15. Bryan... BRILLIANT!!! Thanks a ton!
  16. I recently updated an old Mori post to be used in X2 MR2. I used the updatepost chook. The problem is that after updating, the post now outputs the drill cycle between pheader and psof when it is the first tool, subsequent tools it puts it before the tool change but after toolend. Any ideas how to move it back? Please and Thank you in advance! Here is a snippet of the posted code... % pheader$ pheader$ 50. O0000(PROGRAM NAME - FIX MORI POST) pheader$ pheader$ 50. 17. It looks like there is a broken link on the mastercam.com website. The Product Demo Videos for X3 doesn't work. It appears fine for X2 and X4 just not X3. Here is the link... X3 Videos Is there any other way to access these videos? I guess I could track down my install discs if it is on there. Just thought I would ask. I have some training to do on X3 for some people stuck in our dungeon and would love to simplify things by starting with these vids. Thanks in advance for any help,
  18. John... No memory message or error Colin... The PC is newer. Running an Intel Core 2 CPU @ 2.13 GhZ with 3.25 Gb Ram. The video card is an nVidia Quadro FX3500. The printer is an HP Laserjet 5000. The problem only occurs on this pc, we have not had it (to my knowledge) anywhere else in the organization. This is the only printer that is connected to this PC and there are no other PC's connected to the printer. The printer worked fine before we upgraded his PC so I assumed that it was a PC or driver issue as well, but am willing to try whatever it takes. I will ask helpdesk to update his driver and see if that gets us anywhere. Thanks, Robert [ 04-20-2009, 01:01 PM: Message edited by: Robert Winters C&D Zodiac ]
  19. has anyone had the problem of printing and the printer only printing if the model is unshaded? If we shade the part in Mastercam, the printer prints a blank page! Robert
  20. Does the Generic Fanuc 5 Axis post support the safety zone? I see many misc integers and reals that deal with retract zones and the such but nothing in the post that talks about safety zones. Perhaps the post doesn't need any specific code because mastercam outputs the safety zone retracts as positions in the .nci file, but it doesnt appear to be doing that here on my computer? Am I doing something wrong?
  21. WOW! How'd you do that?
  22. Ahhh, I just realized that this post is smarter than any of the posts that I have worked with in the past... I am used to having the post output one or the other (G98 or G99). In all of the posts that I have ever used, you could get either a G98 or G99 but it would be used for every cycle. This one is intuitive enough to realize that if there is no clearance height that the initial and the reference height are the same thing thus giving you a G99! Man, do I feel dumb! But the light bulb is now on! Thanks John!!!
  23. John, You've got mail
  24. yeah, that it how it was initially set, but I have tried it with either field, the same, different, on and off, in any combination I can think of.
