So I'm currently working on some molds with some pretty deep pockets - tall setups, long tooling. At the start of the program, the spindle always approaches at the height of the tool changer, regardless of my clearance/retract/etc. It also always retracts back to that height between tool changes. How can I change this so that the spindle retracts higher between tool paths? My sketchy solution is to add a contour that acts as an entry/exit around where it would crash, but I'd like to figure out what setting I have to change to properly solve this issue. Machine is a Haas UMC-750, if that helps.

I'm having an issue programming with X7, I'm doing some 5-axis work and I'm trying to set reference points so I don't swipe the part. My retract works as expected, it goes to a safe location for the tool to swing to position. However, my approach is totally ignored. It shows nothing in backplot or verify or the posted code. Basically the tool starts from my clearance plane, which means taking out the steel casting I'm cutting as the B axis swings around. Any ideas on how I can get a safe start position out of this? Also, home position does nothing.

I'm trying to get my boring bar to retract before going straight up (home). I have 3 lathes with left chucks and 1 with a right chuck. Have tried defining stock and setting ref points and that works MOST!! of the time. Is there any way to get the right chuck lathe to load a different operation default file automatically? Then I could have the ref point box checked and have approach and retract set to Z.1. every time I open a lathe opp. Then it wouldn't matter if i forgot to define the material or X7 decides it doesn't feel like it want's to retract . Thanks Pete
