surfacing first cut at top of part??

I just got new computer and loaded X7. all used to work well but i have this hick-up with this new equipment.

 

I am just simple surfacing using Proto-Trak 3 axis machine. 

 

Hence I am just using toolpaths, Surface, Rough  method.

no matter waht i do the first cut is at the top of the part cutting air then secong cut actually cuts where first cut depth should be.

Seems to me this happened to me a few years back and some setting was not right.

Can anyone steer me to this setting so the first cut actually does something???

couple things you can do

change to absolute cut depths or change inc depth to force "keep top cut at max step down"

options will change depending on which toolpath you are using
